James Bond Theme Aahh X 4 Goldfinger Goldfinger, He's the Man James Bond Theme Aahh x 4 Goldfinger Goldfinger, He’s the man, the man with the midas touch, A spider’s touch. Such a cold finger, beckons you to enter his web of sin, But don’t go in! Golden words he will pour in your ear, But his lies can’t disguise what you fear, For a golden girl knows when he’s kissed her, It’s the kiss of death from Mister Goldfinger Pretty girl, beware of his heart of gold, This heart is cold. Skyfall This is the end, Hold your breath and count to ten, Feel the earth move and then, Hear my heart burst again, For this is the end, I’ve drowned and dreamt this moment, So overdue I owe them, Swept away I’m stolen. Let the skyfall, When it crumbles, We will stand tall, Face it all together, Let the skyfall, When it crumbles, We will stand tall, Face it all together at skyfall At skyfall (trebles only) Live and Let Die (alto) When you were young and your heart was an open book, You used to say live and let live, (you know you did you know you did you know you did) (both) But if this ever changing world in which we live in, Makes you give in and cry, Say live and let die! (live and let die) Live and let die (live and let die) What does it matter to ya, When you got a job to do, You got to do it well, You got to give the other fella hell! (alto) You used to say live and let live (you know you did you know you did you know you did) (both) But if this ever changing world in which we live in, Makes you give in and cry, Say live and let die! (live and let die) Live and let die (live and let die) .

  • John Barry • Great Movie Sounds of John Barry
John Barry - Great Movie Sounds of John Barry - The Audio Beat - www.TheAudioBeat.Com 29.10.18, 1431 Music Reviews John Barry • Great Movie Sounds of John Barry Columbia/Speakers Corner S BPG 62402 180-gram LP 1963 & 1966/2018 Music Sound by Guy Lemcoe | October 26, 2018 uring his fifty-year career, composer John Barry won five Oscars and four Grammys. Among the scores he produced is my favorite, and what I consider his magnum opus, Dances with Wolves. Barry's music is characterized by bombast tempered with richly harmonious, "loungey," often sensuous melodies. Added to those are dramatic accents of brass, catchy Latin rhythms and creative use of flute, harp, timpani and exotic percussion (such as the talking drums, which feature prominently in the score from Born Free). The Kentonesque brass writing (trumpets reaching for the sky and bass trombones plumbing the lower registers), which helps define the Bond sound, no doubt stems from Barry’s studies with Stan Kenton arranger Bill Russo. I also hear traces of Max Steiner and Bernard Hermann in Barry's scores. When he used vocals, the songs often became Billboard hits. Witness Shirley Bassey’s work on Goldfinger, Tom Jones’s Thunderball, Matt Monro’s From Russia With Love and Born Free, Nancy Sinatra’s You Only Live Twice and Louis Armstrong’s On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Side one of Great Movie Sounds of John Barry features a half-dozen Bond-film flag-wavers -- two each from Thunderball and From Russia With Love and one each from Goldfinger and Dr.

  • A Multi-Level Perspective Analysis of the Change in Music Consumption 1989-2014
A multi-level perspective analysis of the change in music consumption 1989-2014 by Richard Samuels Thesis submitted for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy School of Geography and Planning Cardiff University 2018 i Abstract This thesis seeks to examine the historical socio-technical transitions in the music industry through the 1990s and 2000s which fundamentally altered the way in which music is consumed along with the environmental resource impact of such transitions. Specifically, the investigation seeks to establish a historical narrative of events that are significant to the story of this transition through the use of the multi-level perspective on socio-technical transitions as a framework. This thesis adopts a multi-level perspective for socio-technical transitions approach to analyse this historical narrative seeking to identify key events and actors that influenced the transition as well as enhance the methodological implementation of the multi-level perspective. Additionally, this thesis utilised the Material Intensity Per Service unit methodology to derive several illustrative scenarios of music consumption and their associated resource usage to establish whether the socio-technical transitions experienced by the music industry can be said to be dematerialising socio-technical transitions. This thesis provides a number of original empirical and theoretical contributions to knowledge. This is achieved by presenting a multi-level perspective analysis of a historical narrative established using over 1000 primary sources. The research identifies, examines and discusses key events, actors and transition pathways denote the complex nature of dematerialising socio-technical systems as well as highlights specifically the influence different actors and actor groups can have on the pathways that transitions take.

  • Composition of Film Music
Composition of film music An orchestra recording a film score with the orchestra Film music must be understood immediately, so there is no time to develop long themes. It rarely uses conventional compositional forms such as the sonata. The principles covered here also apply to music for TV. Film music is composed to accompany the action on screen and often uses: quick and abrupt changes of tempo, harmony and melody rapid shifts from one musical idea to the next Film music composers often use leitmotifs to help build a sense of continuity. A leitmotif is a recurring musical idea (a melody, chord sequence, rhythm or a combination of these) which is associated with a particular idea, character or place. Leitmotifs are manipulated to match the action and mood of a scene. They could be altered by: changing the rhythm or pitch changing the instrumentation or accompaniment adding new material developing fragments of the idea Examples Leitmotifs can be found in the film scores of many film music composers including Bernard Herrmann (Psycho), Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the Apes) and Danny Elfman (Batman). Probably the best known leitmotif in film is John Williams' shark leitmotif in Jaws. The two notes F and F sharp, played on the low register of the cello signify something threatening and getting closer and closer. In the opening of Batman there is a five-note motif which is heard at the very beginning. It is used throughout the film in various transformations. Example - Goldfinger The title song of the Bond film Goldfinger (1964) is very well-known.

  • James Bond Is John Barry
How Film & TV Music Communicate – Vol. III – text copyright © 2015 Brian Morrell Chapter 2 T H E N A M E’ S B O N D – J A M E S B O N D The real James Bond is John Barry Analysing the success of music from the James Bond franchise is an interesting undertaking, not least because Bond films perhaps more than most movies, are dependent on key musical harmonic devices, most of which were sculptured decades ago by John Barry. From the rugged but gentlemanly Sean Connery, the dapper and debonair Roger Moore and the strict, formal and moody Timothy Dalton and slick and smooth- talking Pierce Brosnan, to the gritty realism of Daniel Craig, the real James Bond is the music. More than in most films the music functions as its own character within the narrative. Essentially 007 is as much a creation of John Barry as it is of Ian Flemming or Cubby Broccoli. Bond is the longest running film franchise to date. There have been twenty three films with Skyfall being the latest, released on 26 October 2012. The various theme songs to the films have picked up Academy Award nominations on several occasions. Music analysed: James Bond Theme (John Barry / Monty Norman – from ‘Goldfinger’) Bond Theme (Moby – from ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’) The James Bond Theme (variation - David Arnold – from ‘Casino Royale’) Ride to Atlantis (Marvin Hamlisch – from ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’) On the Beach (David Arnold – ‘Die Another Day’) Kiss Me (David Smith) White Night (David Arnold – Tomorrow Never Dies) Live and Let Die (Paul McCartney – from ‘Live and Let Die’) Surrender (KD Lang/David Arnold – from ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’) Tomorrow Never Dies (Sheryl Crow/David Arnold – from ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’) You Only Live Twice (John Barry/Leslie Bricusse – from ‘You Only Live Twice’) Nobody Does it Better (Marvin Hamlisch/Carol Bayer Sager – from ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’) Thunderball (John Barry and Leslie Bricusse – from ‘Thunderball’) We have all the time in the world (John Barry/Hal David – from ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’) To a degree orchestral film music is relatively timeless.
