INTRODUCTION The manual is to assist potential requesters as to the procedure to be followed when requesting access to information / documents from Naspers as contemplated in terms of the Act. The manual may be amended from time to time and as soon as any amendments have been finalised the latest version of the manual will be made public. Any requester is advised to contact Gillian Kisbey-Green should he / she require any assistance in respect of the utilisation of this manual and/or the requesting of documents / information from Naspers. The following words will bear the following meaning in this manual :- "the Act" shall mean the Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000, together with all relevant regulations published; "the/this manual" shall mean this manual together with all annexures thereto as available at the offices of Naspers from time to time; "Naspers" shall mean Naspers Limited, and various of its subsidiaries as set out in part 9, page 11 and further of this manual "SAHRC" shall mean the South African Human Rights Commission. -
Which Is the Largest Manufacturer of Defence Equipment in South Africa and Operates in the Military Aerospace and Landward Defence Environment
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY DENEL Denel is a state-owned company (SOC), which is the largest manufacturer of defence equipment in South Africa and operates in the military aerospace and landward defence environment. Denel is an important defence contractor in the domestic market and a key supplier to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) both as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and for the overhaul, maintenance, repair, refurbishment and upgrade of equipment in the SANDF’s arsenal. Denel reports to the Minister of Public Enterprises who appoints an independent board of directors to oversee an executive management team, managing the day-to-day operations. The executive management team also manages several business divisions and associated companies, including Denel Aeronautics, Denel Maritime, Pretoria Metal Pressings, Denel Dynamics, Denel Land Systems, Denel Vehicle Systems (Pty) Ltd and Denel Aerostructures SOC Ltd. With the release of the #Guptaleaks in May 2017, the actions and good governance of the board of directors were brought into question, not only because of the Denel-Asia deal, but also because of the relationships between key decision makers and the Gupta family. OUTA explores the capturing of Denel in this submission and provides supporting evidence. Before July 2015, Denel was led by a board of directors chaired by Riaz Saloojee. This board’s direction resulted in a series of profitable years as set out in the second issue of a 2015 Denel- issued communique. Denel had good prospects for its future and an order book of more than R35 billion and the group CFO Fikile Mhlonto was nominated as Public CFO of the year. -

SPORT & RECREATION 257 Pocket Guide to South Africa 2011/12 SPORT & RECREATION Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) is the national department responsible for sport in South Africa. Aligned with its vision of An Active and Winning Nation, its primary focuses are on providing opportunities for all South Africans to participate in sport; managing the regulatory framework; and providing funding for different codes of sport. The SRSA has a number of flagship programmes through which it implements its objectives. These programmes touch the lives of millions of South Africans, from schoolchildren participating in school sport, communities sharing in the benefits of mass participation pro- grammes and events, and organisations benefiting from the SRSA’s financial and logistical support. Initiatives Golden Games The 2011 Golden Games, part of the SRSA’s Older Persons Programme, were held in the Free State in October 2011 with the theme Celebrating Active Ageing. The Golden Games is a national event where persons older than 65 compete in various sporting codes at provincial level. Codes that form part of the Golden Games include soccer, athletics (800 m and 4x100-m relay), brisk walk, duck walk, passing the ball, rugbyball throw, jukskei and goal shooting. The Western Cape was crowned the 2011 Golden Games champion. All-Africa Games The 10th All-Africa Games took place in September 2011 in Maputo, Mozambique, and featured 20 sporting disciplines in which 53 countries participated. Events for people with disabilities also featured in swimming and athletics. Team South Africa finished first on the medals table, with 62 gold medals, 55 silver and 40 bronze, totalling 157 medals.
