  • India: the Weakening of the Congress Stranglehold and the Productivity Shift in India
ASARC Working Paper 2009/06 India: The Weakening of the Congress Stranglehold and the Productivity Shift in India Desh Gupta, University of Canberra Abstract This paper explains the complex of factors in the weakening of the Congress Party from the height of its power at the centre in 1984. They are connected with the rise of state and regional-based parties, the greater acceptability of BJP as an alternative in some of the states and at the Centre, and as a partner to some of the state-based parties, which are in competition with Congress. In addition, it demonstrates that even as the dominance of Congress has diminished, there have been substantial improvements in the economic performance and primary education enrolment. It is argued that V.P. Singh played an important role both in the diminishing of the Congress Party and in India’s improved economic performance. Competition between BJP and Congress has led to increased focus on improved governance. Congress improved its position in the 2009 Parliamentary elections and the reasons for this are briefly covered. But this does not guarantee an improved performance in the future. Whatever the outcomes of the future elections, India’s reforms are likely to continue and India’s economic future remains bright. Increased political contestability has increased focus on governance by Congress, BJP and even state-based and regional parties. This should ensure improved economic and outcomes and implementation of policies. • 1 Ounding Father Who Galvanized, Inspired, Scandalized and Shaped
ounding Father who galvanized, inspired, scandalized and shaped the newborn nation. In the first full-length biography of Alexander Hamilton in decades, Ron Chernow tells the riveting story of a man who overcame all odds to shape, inspire and scandalize the newborn America. According to historian Joseph Ellis, Alexander Hamilton is “a robust full-length portrait, in my view the best ever 1 written, of the most brilliant, charismatic and dangerous founder of them all.” Chernow’s biography is not just a portrait of Hamilton, but the story of America’s birth seen through its most central figure. At a critical time to look back to our roots, Alexander Hamilton will remind readers of the purpose of our institutions and our heritage as Americans. It was the British victory at the Battle of El Alamein in November 1942 that inspired one of Winston Churchill's most famous aphorisms: 'This is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end, but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning'. And yet the significance of this episode remains unrecognised. In this thrilling historical account, Jonathan Dimbleby describes the political and 2 strategic realities that lay behind the battle, charting the nail-biting months that led to the victory at El Alamein in November 1942. It is a story of high drama, played out both in the war capitals of London, Washington, Berlin, Rome and Moscow, and at the front in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Morrocco and Algeria and in the command posts and foxholes in the desert. In this remarkable book, which is partly a memoir and partly an exploration of the various deliberate and inadvertent acts that have contributed to the othering of the 180 million Muslims in India, Saeed Naqvi looks at how the divisions between Muslims and Hindus began in the modern era.

76% of the Nursing Staff suffer from back pains and other musculoskeletal disorders finds a Godrej Interio survey ~Launches a new hospital bed ‘Chrysalis Nova Activ’ to address the pressing needs of caregivers and aid in patient recover~ ~ Chrysalis Nova Activ is a premium product designed for the highest degree of care for patients in the spectrum of Intensive Care to Post-Operative Care ~ Mumbai, 28th July 2021: Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, announced that its business Godrej Interio, India’s leading furniture solutions brand, in home and institutional segments, today launched the Chrysalis Nova Activ - The Intelligent Sense Bed for modern Healthcare spaces. With this new addition to the Chrysalis range of hospital beds, Godrej Interio is addressing the need for patient safety and the wellbeing of caregivers with the introduction of the Lateral Tilt Feature which can be accessed through the digital touch attendant control panel, among several other intuitive features. During the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the lack of healthcare infrastructure not only took its toll on the patients, but also pushed tired nurses and caregivers to their limits. This physical toil, especially across the extended shifts during the peak of the pandemic could lead to healthcare staff developing long-term musculoskeletal disorders. According to a study conducted during the pandemic by Godrej Interio's Workspace and Ergonomics Research Cell, this strenuous work environment leads to back pains and other muscular skeletal disorders in 76% of the nursing staff. Further, in case of patients, long stay in ICU wards can result in bed sores and other skin ailments.

  • Assets Management Efficiency of Indian Textile Companies - a Comparative Analysis
IJRIM Volume 6, Issue 4 (April, 2016) (ISSN 2231-4334) International Journal of Research in IT & Management (IMPACT FACTOR – 5.96) Assets Management Efficiency of Indian Textile companies - A Comparative Analysis Dr. B. MADHUSUDHAN REDDY Professor in Finance Department of Management Studies, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, India ABSTRACT The Textile Sector in India ranks next to Agriculture. Textile is one of India’s oldest industries and has a formidable presence in the national economy. The textile industry occupies a unique place in our country. One of the earliest to come into existence in India, it accounts for 14% of the total Industrial production, contributes to nearly 27% of the total exports and is the second largest employment generator after agriculture. Like other organizations, all textile companies keep various assets such as inventory, debtors, fixed assets, investments etc. to carry out the business operations effectively and efficiently. However, managing these assets effectively is a crucial thing. Asset Management Ratios attempt to measure the firm's success in managing its assets to generate sales. These ratios can provide insight into the success of the firm's credit policy and inventory management. These ratios are also known as Activity or Turnover Ratios. This paper represents an empirical study which examines the assets management in textile companies in India with a data of 5 years. For the purpose of the study secondary data is used. For the purpose of analysis ratios and arithmetic mean have been used and to test hypothesis, ANOVA test (F test) has been applied. Key words: Assets management, Inventory turnover ratio, Debtors turnover ratio, Fixed assets turnover ratio, Total assets turnover ratio and ANOVA test.
