Wetherby and the River Wharfe
Wetherby and the River Wharfe Around a handsome country market town and along a stretch of the mature River Wharfe. Distance 3.5 miles (5.7km) Minimum time 2hrs Ascent/gradient 65ft (20m) Level of difficulty Easy Paths Field paths and good tracks, a little road-walking, 1 stile Landscape Arable land, mostly on the flat Suggested map aqua3 OS Outdoor Leisure 289 Leeds Start/finish SE 405479 Dog friendliness No particular problems Parking Free car parking in Wilderness car park, close to river, just over bridge as you drive into Wetherby from south Public toilets Wetherby Wetherby, at the north east corner of the county, is not your typical West Yorkshire town. Most of the houses are built of pale stone, topped with roofs of red tiles - a type of architecture more usually found in North Yorkshire. With its riverside developments and air of prosperity, the Wetherby of today is a favoured place to live. The flat, arable landscape, too, is very different to Pennine Yorkshire. Here, on the fringes of the Vale of York, the soil is rich and dark and productive - the fields divided up by fences and hedgerows rather than dry-stone walls. The town has a long history. A brief glance at an Ordnance Survey map reveals that Wetherby grew up around a tight curve in the River Wharfe. Its importance as a river crossing was recognised by the building of a castle, possibly in the 12th century, of which only the foundations remain. The first mention of a bridge was in 1233. A few years later, in 1240, the Knights Templar were granted a royal charter to hold a market in Wetherby.

Citywide Well Baby Clinics You can attend any citywide Well baby clinic and they are there to provide information and support. They are run by the Community Nursery Nurses who will offer support and suggestions without necessarily weighing your baby. The current recommendations for routine well baby weighing is at 6-8 weeks (that should be done at the GP check) at 12 weeks and 16 weeks around the time your baby would have their immunisations. Well Baby Clinics are there for everyone but spaces are limited and it is appreciated if you only weigh your baby at those times. Length or height measurements are only done if there is a healthy weight concern. Please bring your Red Book to clinic to record any information All appointment clinics are booked via the SPA on 0113 843 5683 and can be booked 6 days in advance. February 2017 CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY REVIEW TRUST ESSENTIALS CPRT MISSION The Cambridge Primary Review Trust (CPRT) is successor to the Cambridge Primary Review (CPR), the UK’s most thorough and comprehensive enquiry into the condition and future of primary education for 50 years. CPRT was founded as a not‐for-profit company in December 2012 and since April 2013 it has received core funding from Pearson. CPRT exists to extend and build upon CPR’s evidence and advance the cause of high quality primary education with particular reference to the eight priorities below. CPRT PRIORITIES 1. Equity. Tackle the continuing challenge of social and educational disadvantage, and find practical ways to help schools to close the associated gaps in educational attainment. 2. Voice. Advance children’s voice and rights in school and classroom in accordance with the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. 3. Community.
