    Issues Paper Your County Your Plan Your Future Get Involved Make a Submission WHAT IS A COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PLAN? The County Development Plan is a document that sets out the overall strategy and vision for the proper planning and sustainable development of the county over the 6 year plan period. The Plan will be prepared in the context of the framework of national and regional strategies and guidelines, and must be prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended). The Plan consists of a written statement and accompanying maps. The County Development Plan is a material consideration in making decisions on future planning applications. WHY GET INVOLVED? Given that the new County Development Plan will set out the policy position for the development of the county, it should reflect the needs and ambitions of all communities and residents of County Roscommon. It is important that you have your say on the key issues which will shape the county, including on topics such as housing, economic development, infrastructure provision, environmental protection and climate change. This Issues Paper represents the first step in preparing the new County Development Plan. The paper presents a broad overview of the main issues of consideration and poses a number of questions.     The Government has placed the country in Level 3 of the Covid-19 plan with some additional guidelines. Religious services can now be resumed with a maximum of 50 people. Weekday masses will be said in private, weekend and holy day masses will be said in both PARISH OF KILTOOM & CAM Churches provided we have the volunteers to steward and sanitise the Churches. Masses will continue to be recorded and uploaded onto the Parish Website & Facebook pages. SHEET NUMBER 47 1/2 inch Sheet No. 15 Outline Site Description This is a long, beaded, often high, sinuous esker ridge system that traverses a lateral distance of just under 70 kilometres across the Central Midlands, including counties other than just Roscommon. Geological System/Age and Primary Rock Type The esker is formed on bedrock which is Lower Carboniferous limestone. The feature itself is Quaternary in age, having been deposited at the base of the ice sheet moving west to east during early deglaciation after the last Ice Age. Main Geological or Geomorphological Interest The esker system is one of the finest examples of a long, wide tunnel-deposited esker in the country. The ridge also has many associated fan, delta, and sandur (a plain formed of glacial sediments deposited by meltwater outwash at the terminus of a glacier) features associated with it. This ridge is one of the three major conduit systems that subglacially drained the melting ice sheet in the Irish Midlands. It crosses Roscommon between the Suck and the Shannon Rivers and follows the R357 road for most of its course. It is generally oriented in an east-west direction and has many small and large pits, both currently in use and disused, cut into it.

Its stated area is 0.92ha. It is a rectangular field under grass. It has frontage of 60m onto a county road whose width, surface condition and alignment are good, although there is a solid white line in front of the site. The roadside boundary of the site is marked by a post and wire fence. There are numerous one-off houses on roadside sites along that road in vicinity of the site, including several across the road. There is also a small house to the rear of the site. Access to the latter house is along an access track that runs for 150m along the eastern side of the site inside its red boundary line. 3.0 PROPOSAL 3.1 It is proposed to build a house on the site with a stated floor area of 231m2 and a roof height of 6.9m.
