Unfinished Business: King’s Message for Our Troubled Times Keynote Speaker: Rev. Joseph Lowery A history maker of the American Civil Rights Movement, Rev. Joseph Lowery worked side-by-side with Rev. King to lead the Montgomery bus boycott and to found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). He has received numerous honorary doctorates and other distinctions including the NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center Peace Award. Ebony Magazine named him one of the 15 greatest black preachers, describing him as, “the consummate voice of biblical social relevancy, a focused voice, speaking truth to power.”
