November '18 Newsletter NORTH EAST SUSSEX Sub-Branch NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2018 The October Social was to three pubs in the Maynard’s Green area. The Brewers Arms at Vines Cross was extremely busy as it was their quiz night and The Runt in Tun was also busy as there was a Ladies Darts match in progress. Once again it was good that a number of South East Sussex main branch members were able to come along. It is appreciated that the sub-branch covers a very rural area and that public transport is limited especially during the evenings but it would be great to meet a few more members at our socials on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Please don't feel you have to come to all 3 pubs. Future Sub-Branch Socials and Meetings: Wed 21st Nov - New Inn, Hadlow Down, Blackboys Inn, Blackboys and Hare & Hounds, Framfield. Wed 19th Dec - Pig & Butcher, Five Ash Down, Boars Head Inn, Crowborough, and Cooper Arms, Crowborough 2019 Wed 9th Jan - Sub-Branch Meeting - The Hurstwood, High Hurstwood. 8pm (Sub Branch Area G.B.G. Selection and Survey Allocation) Wed 23rd Jan - Hatch Inn, Coleman’s Hatch, Gallipot Inn, Upper Hartfield and Anchor Inn, Hartfield. (Please note, for this month only, this date is NOT the 3rd Wed) Wed 20th Feb - Abergavenny Arms & George Inn, Frant and Brecknock Arms, Bells Yew Green. We meet at the first pub in the list at 8pm and then move on to visit the others; you are welcome to join us at any time during the evening. Feel free to bring a guest along too (they don't have to be a member). Other local events:- 17th Nov Brewery Visit - Pig & Porter, Tunbridge Wells. Unfortunately this visit has been postponed. 4th Dec South East Sussex Main Branch Meeting - London & County, Eastbourne 2019 1st - 3rd February 10th Annual Winter Ales Festival, ‘Dark & Delicious’, The Coopers Arms, Crowborough. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The Hurstwood, High Hurstwood will be holding traditional ‘Pint and Conversation’ evenings on the first Monday of each month from 7pm, starting on the 5th November. There will usually be a beer on tap from the local Engineer Brewery. All are welcome. Please take time to read the latest Beer Scoring information by logging on to the Members Area from our website. It is good to see that a lot more people have been scoring their beers - keep it up! This information is used to determine which pubs are selected for possible inclusion in the Good Beer Guide. There is a meeting arranged for Wednesday 9th January at The Hurstwood, High Hurstwood at 8pm to discuss selection for the 2020 Guide. For information on how to score the beers you drink and to enter your scores go to the WhatPub site also accessible from our website.
