Instant Family is a PG13 heartwarming Drama-comedy Movie that came out in 2018. It’s about a young house-flipping couple whose family taunts them for not having children. Not being able to have children of their own, they enroll as foster parents. Sharon and Karen are two-social workers who lead Pete and Ellie, the young couple, to a “Fair” where they see possible children to foster and/or adopt. There stood a group of rebellious teens that Pete and

Ellie told themselves they could never handle. With the attitude and good impression of a

15-year-old girl named Lizzy, they thought that maybe she could change their minds. When Pete and Ellie talk more to the social workers about Lizzy, they find out that the teen has 2 trouble-making siblings who cause nothing but a struggle. The kids’ mother, who is a highly addicted drug addict, refuses to get better for her children’s lives. Even though her children love her very much, and continue to run to her at the beginning of the story, they don’t quite understand why she left them. Pete and Ellie, hoping for the best, open their home and welcome the children. The youngest of the kids Lita (Julianna Gomiz) only ate potatoes during her meals and refused anything else, this alarmed the couple causing insecurities about raising the kids. All gets better though. The movie has many good reviews. It also has several nominations for best actors, one of which is the winner and best leading young actress of 2019, Isabela Merced. Nominated for choice-comedy movie actor, Mark Wahlberg, and best Director Sean Andrews.

I have personally watched this movie over three times and as an adopted child by foster I can relate to the story. I think this movie is very deep and gives the audience lots of emotions. It helps those with good-spirits to consider fostering children. Not only does the movie show the importance of fostering children and give a visual representation of how you can change a life, but it also shows the struggles and commitment it takes to take care of the children.

Throughout the story, Ellie becomes very attached to the kids and then the mother interferes saying she will change and that she loves her children. The kids’ mother broke a promise once again and it was Pete and Ellie’s job to make the children happy, they soon become very close. The audience may be able to relate to this movie by the way it shows the family issues, shows the effect of fostering, and shows how it is to be alone, which is good because then it shows the ups and downs to fostering, but in the end everyone was happy. This movie is just so motivational because it shows inviting someone into your life can change a life. A real tear jerker for most viewers. The movie itself really encourages the audience to take into consideration if your family is safe and healthy to save a child's life, provide them with something they cannot have, love them, and give them an amazing life because it's good for them and your mind, heart, and soul.
