Abstract Facility location decisions are critical in real-life projects, which impact on profitability of investment and service levels from demand side. In this paper, a project-based facility location problem should be resolved which refers to the establishment of a centralized bottling plant to serve microbreweries in East Midlands area of UK. This problem will be structured by firstly finding a mathematically theoretical location using the centre-of-gravity method and then formulate the problem as a multi-criteria decision making problem applying Analytical Hierarchy Process based on selection of the optimal location out of the four candidate locations where three of those have been given. The second part is modeled by considering several criteria related to both the activities before and after bottling and also issues of surrounding area of the location where the prioritization of those criteria are based on the preferences of the project investor. The final result is obtained by applying EXPERT CHOICE to approach Eigenvalue methods to enhance Analytical Hierarchy Process. The outcome can be clarified with illustration of the sensitivities resulted from the weight changes of criteria and the pull-out of certain criteria. The Ticknall Conservation Area was jointly designated by South Derbyshire District Council and Derbyshire Councty Council on 17th November 1972 and extended by the District Council on 24th November 1983. Summary Ticknall sits in a sheltered valley south of the River Trent on the busy A514 between Derby and Swadlincote. It is strategically placed on the district’s road network, with several roads radiating from the village and heading towards Repton, Swadlincote, Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Melbourne. Ticknall Conservation Area Character Statement Although often identified as an estate village, it was only between 1765 and the 1830s that the Harpur (later Crewe and Harpur Crewe) family of Calke Abbey finally bought out most Lullington Conservation Area Character Statement of the lesser freeholders, it being a well-established settlement long before then (first recorded in 1002).

    Church Langton Settlement Profile Introduction General Location: Church Langton village (lying north) along with East Langton village (lying south) both constitute the civil parish of East Langton (hereby referred to as ‘Church Langton’), as well as both being part of five villages known collectively as ‘the Langtons’ (with Tur Langton to the north, West Langton to the west, and Thorpe Langton to the East). Beyond the parish’s borders with other Langton villages, the village also borders Great Bowden to the south and Stonton Wyville to the north-east. Church Langton lies 5 miles north of Market Harborough, and 4 miles east of Kibworth with the A6 passing less than 1 mile south of the parish. The 13th century-constructed Church of St Peter is the parish’s most distinguished feature; a collegiate-type church of strikingly large proportions that sits 400ft above sea-level whilst also forming the parish’s historic separation. Overall, the parish is linear in form, stretching for almost 2 miles (north-south), with most community services and facilities being centrally located. East Langton is separated from Church Langton by Langton Road that dissects the parish into a northerly and southerly area. Langton Brook runs west-east through the southern tip of the parish, before joining the River Welland to the east. The East Midlands Trains line also crosses the southerly tip of the parish in a similar movement. The village of Church Langton is identified as a Selected Rural Village in the Core Strategy and as such, is outlined as a settlement that would potentially benefit from the support of limited development such as rural housing.

    SERVANTS’ PASSAGE: Cultural identity in the architecture of service in British and American country houses 1740-1890 2 Volumes Volume 1 of 2 Aimée L Keithan PhD University of York Archaeology March 2020 Abstract Country house domestic service is a ubiquitous phenomenon in eighteenth and nineteenth century Britain and America. Whilst shared architectural and social traditions between the two countries are widely accepted, distinctive cultural identity in servant architecture remains unexplored. This thesis proposes that previously unacknowledged cultural differences between British and American domestic service can be used to rewrite narratives and re-evaluate the significance of servant spaces. It uses the service architecture itself as primary source material, relying on buildings archaeology methodologies to read the physical structures in order to determine phasing. Archival sources are mined for evidence of individuals and household structure, which is then mapped onto the architecture, putting people into their spaces over time. Spatial analysis techniques are employed to reveal a more complex service story, in both British and American houses and within Anglo-American relations. Diverse spatial relationships, building types and circulation channels highlight formerly unrecognised service system variances stemming from unique cultural experiences in areas like race, gender and class. Acknowledging the more nuanced relationship between British and American domestic service restores the cultural identity of country house servants whose lives were not only shaped by, but who themselves helped shape the architecture they inhabited. Additionally, challenging accepted narratives by re-evaluating domestic service stories provides a solid foundation for a more inclusive country house heritage in both nations. This provides new factors on which to value modern use of servant spaces in historic house museums, expanding understanding of their relevance to modern society.

IT is with great pleasure that we can announce the (imminent) birth of a brewery to proud father Malcolm Shipp. Malcolm may already be known to some of you as the person who leased the Swan With Two Necks in St Judes a while back, and who also operates his own wholesaling business, Shipping Beer, importing and distributing quality cask ales. Now he is realising his dream of opening and running his very own brewery. The brewery is located in Keynsham on the outskirts of Bristol, sharing premises with the Shipping Beer offices, and has been Picture christened Nursery Brewery. Eventually there should also be a bar and tasting room. Initial plans were to have the brewery operational by the end of July, but mid August now seems more likely, and Malcolm hopes to launch the beers at the Cornubia in Bristol. The man doing the actual brewing will be the ex-head brewer from Sutton Brewery, Steve Cheeseright, who brought us such delights as Plymouth Porter, Sutton Comfort and XSB. But what of the beers themselves? These will be in keeping with the theme suggested by the name of the brewery, and the first ones In this issue... to be made available will be: Watering Holes in the Desert Little Miss Muffet – a light beer around 3.8% abv. Hey Diddle Diddle – about 4.3% abv. News from Weston-super-Mare page 12-15 Three Blind Mice – about 4.6% abv.
