I’ve said many times how quickly time gets by and indeed this time has done the same. It is as if I blinked and three years had gone by. It has been a wonderful blessing and honor, and definitely one I will treasure forever. It should go without saying that I have enjoyed the time I’ve spent with each of you. I am looking forward to continuing to serve the community in other ways, and will continue to pray that all that we do be to the glory of God as we seek ways to share the blessing of the Walk to Emmaus. This month we welcome six new board members who replace those completing their terms of service. Our newly elected board members are: Gary Ayers, Wendy Hollman, Cindy Murdaugh, Sue Runnerstrom, Gary Shealy and David Smith. The new Community Lay Director, Assistant Community Lay Director/Team Selection, Secretary-Treasurer, along with from our Community Spiritual Director and Assistant Community Spiritual Director will be announced at our May Gathering on the 17th at Bethany UMC in Summerville. For Lowcountry Emmaus to work it takes more than the 17 elected and appointed board members. The board members have a vital role, but we have always remember it requires everyone working together – the the entire community. There are many areas to volunteer and serve. Please look for ways to help and let a board member know you are willing to serve. Lay I look forward to seeing everyone at our May Gathering at Bethany UMC. It is a very special gathering as we will come together with our new community members who have just completed Walk #75 and continue to share in their joy of that weekend. The gathering will be at 6:30 with a covered dish dinner (bring your favorite dishes) and our worship service will be at 7:30. Director Blessings to all. Decolores, Linda Dear Emmaus Friends: Thank you for permitting me to serve as your Community Spiritual Director this year. I look forward to a fruitful year in 2013 – 2014. It is my hope that together we will help to renew the Church through sharing our deep personal experiences with Jesus Christ—on the walks, in our reunion groups, and in our local churches. I also want to thank the Board members and clergy persons in our community for your support, as I tried to get a handle on what it means to be Spiritual Director. Your guidance and your willingness to step in where needed made everything possible. I want to urge all of us to continue to prayerfully seek candidates that we can sponsor as pilgrims in upcoming walks. Whenever we have enough pilgrims, we will plan a walk as soon from as it is practical to do so. Jesus said, “I, when I am lifted up from the earth will draw all people to myself.” I believe that it is still true that when we lift up the name of Jesus, people are drawn into a relationship with Him. the Let us be faithful to proclaim the name—living before all as disciples of Jesus Christ. De Colores, Spiritual Dick Broomall Director NOTES FROM THE EMMAUS BOARD The next Board meeting will be the annual Board changeover supper at Ryan’s on Main Street (17A) in Summerville. It will be on Tuesday, May 14th at 6:30 p.m. This is a pay as you go event. Members of the community are welcome at all Board meetings, but please be aware that should you choose to attend, this is not a regular business meeting. TABLES We became aware at the time of the most recent walk that the camp no longer has a sufficient number of tables of the size and type that we need for walks. Therefore, the Board voted to solicit contributions toward the purchase of new tables. Much as we did with the recent purchase of new candles, we would ask that you consider making a donation toward the tables. Please make any checks payable to “Lowcountry Em- maus” and mark “Tables” on the memo line. You may also place a cash contribution in the offering plate at any gathering. Please put it in an envelope or attach a note with the word “Tables”. The Board is still re- searching sizes and the best pricing available. Rest assured that, as always, we will use good stewardship in the use of these funds. REGISTRAR We have just completed a wonderful Spirit filled weekend. Thank you to all of the sponsors for answering God's nudging to offer this wonderful experience to His pilgrim. Now is the time to start listening to the per- son He wants to attend the next set of walks. This community has a history of waiting until the last minute to "meet the numbers." Don't wait. Start now by praying, listening and answering God's call to you. Yes, He can do anything He wants, but He uses us to be His hands, feet and voice. Do you remember when we had 2 FULL sets of walks each year? Well, God hasn't changed, He is still doing His part....Are we? It is never too early to turn in an application. That pilgrim that God is calling will be willing to wait - That was proven by the ladies that could have gone this spring, but wanted to wait for their husbands to attend at the same time. God is calling now........Be still and listen and respond. DeColores, Lynn Gaines, Registrar AGAPE Thanks to all of the Reunion Groups for the great table agape provided for Walk #75. If you did not get what was left over at Closing, it will be at May gathering for you to pick up. Also thanks to all who provided the delicious snacks for the conference room and those who participated in the prayer vigil. All of this is an act of servanthood as we work together in Lowcountry Emmaus.
