Over the years our fine Club has tried many different locations for our weekly meetings. On May 2nd we gathered at the prestigious Albany Club on King Street East and found ourselves in a wonderful hall ready to enjoy a great meal and the fellowship of our guests and fellow members.

There is a certain excitement and adventure in trying a new spot and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our piano player Bill Turnbull got a day off but we will all look forward to hearing him at future meetings when possible. Monitor Ross Amos did his best to welcome the visiting Rotarians and guests. Susan thanked Neil Phillips and his Ice Breaker crew for their efforts in making this year’s event the huge success it was.

You may have noticed R2R listed in the Voice of May 2nd as being on May 15th . Word from the podium says it is actually on Thursday, May 8th at the National Club 5:30-7 p.m. Glenn Davis and Andrea Tirone will be the presenters. Andrea is the winner of the year’s Ambassadorial Scholarship!

We have a great speaker Richard Gwyn coming on May 9th and Jayson Phelps caught our interest with the plans for the May 16th Youth Day meeting.

Two events I wouldn’t like to miss and I hope I see all of you there. On September 12th we Celebrate the Power of Rotary with speaker General Romeo Dallaire. In-coming Vice-President Peter Love told us we are all welcome but space may be limited and you should book in advance to come to this important luncheon.

Our Club is getting greener every day and even the grace gave us a message on the resources of our planet for the benefit of all man- kind. Added to this was a message from David Wilson regarding member involvement in the reduction of carbon footprint. Tim Dickins told us about our upcoming 60th Annual Golf Day to be held on August 21st at the Richmond Hill Golf Club.

Chris Snyder introduced our speaker Peter Dalglish, founder of Street Kids International. A great speech from a wonderful humani- tarian which resulted in one of our rare standing ovations. The certificate of a donation made in his honour to the Rotary Rainwater Harvesting Project in Kenya seemed particularly fitting as Susan thanked him for speaking so well to our Club. Richard White, our Foundation President, was called to the podium to present Street Kids International President Bill Richardson with our cheque for $5,000 for their good work.

The money in the Ace of Clubs draw continues to grow!
