HEAD COACH This is his second season working with the varsity Torreys. Prior to Country Day, he coached at Rancho Bernardo and Orange Glen High Schools. He also coaches in the collegiate leagues This year’s pitching staff returns during summers. In the 2017 and 2018 seasons Coach Carsley was instrumental in guiding with over 200 innings pitched in the San Diego Invaders to back-to-back San Diego Coastal Collegiate League championships 2019 and 13 wins. Junior Anderson Allamby >> JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH Ben Pajak and sophomores Chris Esquivel, Anderson Allamby graduated from La Jolla Country Day in 2004. He was a star player for Johnny Luetzow, and Jake Bold finished the Torreys during Coach Edman’s early years as head coach. Anderson played college the year very well in 2019. This team has baseball at Menlo College. John Edman >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Matt Hensley >> JUNIOR VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH Coach Edman is in his 20th year as Head Coach at La Jolla Country Day. His teams have accumulated 304 wins including 5 first place finishes in the Coastal Conference and the Matt Hensley is a native San Diegan. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1997, CIF Championship in 2011. Coach Edman was selected as the 2017-18 NFHS California attended Grossmont Junior College, and was drafted in 2000 in the 10th round by the Baseball Coach of the Year. Nine of his recent players are currently playing in college and Anaheim Angels as a pitcher. He played eight seasons of professional baseball, two and a three are playing professionally. Prior to Country Day, Coach Edman was an assistant half of which were in the major leagues with the Anaheim Angels as well as four ½ with the coach at the University of Michigan (1998-99), and was a head varsity coach at his alma AAA Salt Lake City Bees. Coach Hensley is in his fifth year of coaching at La Jolla Country mater, Cranbrook Kingswood (MI), for four seasons prior to that. Coach Edman was a four-year starter and two-year captain at Williams College where he was twice selected to the All New England Team.
