Now for the first time, author Ridley Pearson focuses on the "fairly human" girls, taking us inside Jess's mind as she and Amanda embark on a journey to unravel her latest prophetic dream. Jessica's "gift" to dream of future events is both a blessing and a curse—the same visions that have saved countless lives are pure torment for her. Trapped in a body with a mind that has a mind of its own, Jess is condemned to see things she would often rather not. Picking up after Kingdom Keepers VI—Dark Passage and leading up to Book VII—The Insider, Unforeseen opens with Jess dreaming of "cracks" in Disneyland. Is this vision something that will consume and destroy her friends, the Kingdom Keepers? Jess sets out to find answers, embarking on her own nighttime adventure inside the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. There, she encounters an old man with secrets, a young Imagineer-in-training whose future Jess wants to see, and a treasured wonderland about to shatter. Unforeseen-ebook. Books with a dash of pixie dust for the young and young at heart. Books and Publications. As an author, I’ve worked on three kinds of projects: I wrote two books for Disney Publishing, I worked with Ridley Pearson on some of his Kingdom Keepers books, and I published two short stories. (I’m also a writer-for-hire for becker&mayer! – an imprint of the Quarto Group – but the three-book series I wrote for them, which was set to be published in March 2021, got cancelled due to changes in the market. Darn pandemic!) In addition to being a writer-for-hire, I’m working on several of my own concepts, including my first novel! But I’m always eager to pick up more writing projects, so if you’re hiring freelance writers, please check out my resume and contact me. Keep reading to learn more about my published work… Disney Publishing. Being a writer-for-hire for Disney Publishing means that I adapt Disney movies into children’s books! (Best job ever, right. ) I’ve written two so far, with hopefully more to follow: Big Hero 6 Read-Along Storybook and CD. Published May 2018. This picture book tells the story of Big Hero 6 , featuring the adventures of boy genius Hiro as he and his friends—including the inflatable robot Baymax—become superheroes. Bah-a-la-la-la! Fun fact: This book (and the accompanying CD) includes actual dialogue from the movie! Aladdin: Beyond the Palace Walls. Published April 2019. This early reader (based on the live-action remake of Aladdin ) tells the story of Princess Jasmine. Jasmine is smart, kind, and strong. She’s the perfect person to rule Agrabah someday, but can she convince everyone that she’s capable of more than marrying a prince? Fun fact: I read the movie’s script—before the movie came out—in order to write this book! Kingdom Keepers. Ridley Pearson’s Kingdom Keepers is a New York Times best-seller AND my all-time favorite series. In these books, a group of teenagers protect Disney’s theme parks from the villains who want to destroy them. And guess what? After I won a bunch of writing contests, I was lucky enough to go from super-fan to co-author! (To learn more about that, check out my blog post.) Kingdom Keepers VII: The Insider. Published April 2014. Kingdom Keepers VII: The Insider is the epic conclusion of the original series, although multiple spin-offs followed. The first four books are set in Walt Disney World, followed by two books that take place on a Disney cruise… but the final battle is fittingly set in the park that started it all: Disneyland. To reward loyal fans, Ridley Pearson incorporated paragraphs of contest winners’ writing into the book. Pay special attention to Chapters 13 and 18: I’m Adventure_Willa! Fun fact: This is the book that started my career with Disney, thanks to the Kingdom Keepers Insider writing contests that introduced me to Disney editors! Unforeseen: A Kingdom Keepers Novella. Published March 2014. Unforeseen is a prequel to KK7, told from the perspective of a character named Jess. Unfortunately, it’s not currently available: it was exclusive to the Kingdom Keepers Insider website, which has since shut down. But keep your fingers crossed that it’s re-released in the future. Fun fact: After Ridley Pearson invited me to co-write this novella, I could officially call myself a published author! Short Stories. During my time as an online student at Southern New Hampshire University, two of my short stories were featured in SNHU’s literary journal, The Manatee : An Unexpected Adventure. Published in Spring 2013. In this story, thirteen-year-old Matt is forced to put aside his video games when his mom makes him play outside with his little sister. He doesn’t expect to find anything but boredom… until he finds a magic wand! Fun fact: Although Unforeseen made me feel like a real author, this was the first time my work was in print! The Other Fairy Godmother. Published in Spring 2016. In this story, the classic tale of Cinderella goes awry when the Fairy Godmother’s sister steps in, using her dark magic to put Cinderella under a sleeping curse instead of sending her to the ball. Fun fact: This piece holds a very special place in my heart, because the concept—with a few adjustments—became the seed for my first original novel! Concepts and Upcoming Projects. I’m currently developing several original projects. I normally keep my concepts to myself until they’re published… but I’m going to make an exception for you, readers! These projects are in various stages of completion: they range from short stories that have the potential to be expanded into something longer, to works that I’m currently writing, to completed manuscripts that are ready to query. While I can’t share details, I hope you enjoy these teasers about my works-in-progress! A chapter book series about fairy tales, reimagined to take place in a modern-day middle school A holiday picture book with a new twist on ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas A princess and a dragon who don’t conform to expectations A girl who adopts a cat, then discovers that he has magical powers—and so does she A question-and-answer book, co-written with Santa Claus himself And more! Most exciting of all, I’m writing my first novel! The Other Fairy Godmother is a YA fairytale reimagining/mash-up. Curious about the details? Well… it’s almost ready to query, so I can’t share much. But since you asked so nicely, here’s a one sentence synopsis: In a kingdom where fairy tales are relived every generation, happy endings are dictated by a magical book—until the Fairy Godmother’s sister breaks free of her destiny, redefining Happily Ever After forever. For the latest updates on this project and more, follow me on social media! I post daily writing updates on Twitter (and in my Instagram story) when I’m working on The Other Fairy Godmother , for those who want to stay up-to-date on my progress. I’m currently revising it before sending it out to agents, so wish me luck! Ridley Pearson Books In Order. Publication Order of Kingdom Keepers: The Return Books. The publishers of The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer: My Life at Rose Red, written by an author with the pseudonym of Joyce Reardon, Ph. D., invented a beaumont university website to spread the belief of the fictive Rose Red mansion… He has been asked to write for Disney… He admits that he is not a solo writer. He prefers working on a collaboration. He writes in the genre of thriller and children’s fantasy. But, first things first. Ridley Pearson, born March 13, 1953, Glen Cove, New York, United States, is among the New York Times bestselling authors, with more than 48 novels. And perhaps most famous for his crime fiction, translated in more than 20 languages in over 70 countries. He grows up in . He starts writing when he is ten. But his first love is music. He attends the Pomfret college preparatory boarding school and he definitely wants to be the leader of a band of musicians. He starts studying pre-medical at the , but he drops out, and it turns to be his life’s greatest regret. He loves science, as he admits. He goes to college at , but he never graduates. In the meanwhile, he plays music with his friends at night. They soon realize it is hard being a full-time musician. They have different musical engagements for a long period of time, and playing at a coffe-house one night, they decide to quit. Writing is his second nature. He writes for more than eight years before his first manuscript is bought. It is “Columbo” TV show that he starts writing scripts that he finally never sells. It is the genre that attracts him. The experience of trial and error leads him to an agent, and Pearson gets Never Look Back published. This is the time when he lives with his parents in Idaho. Now he knows the formula to never give up. Because his conviction is to be a storyteller. Pearson’s passion for music brings him to Dave Barry, and the Rock Bottom Remainders band. The idea is to show how a bunch of writers can also play music, and it is conceived to be one-night charity. It goes for 20 years. It is also with Barry that both rewrite the story of in “Peter and the Starcatchers”; it sells like napkins, as Pearson likes to joke. That it’s a hit is the fact it’s on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theater. Pearson is the first American with Raymond Chandler Fulbright Fellowship at Oxford. He spends there a year. As a visiting don at Wadham College, he makes a research for his books. Some of the mysteries he learns from someone from Scotland Yard who visits the dons at the college. When he settles in St. Louis with his wife, Marcelle, and two daughters, Storey and Paige, Ridley is joking that St. Louis has everything that Seattle had before Microsoft moved there – museums, universities, brilliant minds. His favorite sports activities are recreational tree climbing and snowboarding. It is always real-life events that impress him most. China is a source of inspiration for Pearson to shape the character of John Knox. Becoming aware of the stories of truck drivers from Kuwait, making supplies for Iraq, helps him outline the plot and characters in The Risk Agent suspense series. Knox has a background in security work of high risk. Grace Chu represents the collective model of the ambitious young women of the new generation in China. They both are hired by an international security company to deal with a hostage situation. Now we come to the point that the publishers of The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer: My Life at Rose Red, written by an author with the pseudonym of Joyce Reardon, Ph. D. – de facto Ridley Pearson – invent a beaumontuniversity website to spread the belief of the fictive Rose Red mansion. The standalone suspense novel is about Ellen and John Rimbauer and their Rose Red mansion in Washington. Mysterious tragedies occur in the mansion. Ellen is the young bride who starts keeping a diary. She pours her sole into it. It proves to document, in a peculiar way, the aristocratic daily life. The novel has been adapted for television and screen. The movie is warmly recommended to anyone having a ghost-movie library. The Boldt and Matthews series – Boldt, being a detective in the forensic task force of Seattle, and Matthews a police psychologist are partners in Undercurrents, The Angel Maker, No Witnesses, Beyond Recognition, The First Victim, etc. It is with Undercurrents that Pearson introduces his two characters. They are fusing their professional skills to reveal murderers’ schemes, basing arguments on the evidence at the crime scenes and interrogations. Ridley is a frontrunner in utilizing forensic science (he loves science, remember?) as an essential tool for solving criminal cases. The two characters develop in the sequence of stories and reach even social dimension. Pearson’s reputation also runs along the lines of a series of young adult adventure novels – Starcatchers and Kingdom Keepers. The Toy Story of the Kingdom Keepers is an imagined battle of the good and the villains for control of the Disney Parks. The readers’ age ranges between 8 and 80. Peter and the Starcatchers novel is picked up for a movie by the director of The Hunger Games. The legend says that the adventure novel is launched when Paige, one of Ridley’s daughters, asks her father about how Peter meets . Ridley pens the story, partnering with Dave Barry. As they also collaborate for The Bridge to Neverland, falling in the category of an adventure and fantasy for children and young adults 10+. Ridley Pearson confesses that, it’s still thrilling of a lifetime to publish books. He keeps a notebook to write ideas down whenever they occur. Sometimes, it can happen that he rewrites a novel nine times. His advice for budding authors is to work with five senses and internal thoughts. One of Ridley’s oddest activities – to water grass at a real estate development with a million empty houses in California. Lock & Key: The Initiation. A riveting tale about the origins of the rivalry of literature’s most famous enemies—Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty, told from the perspective of James’s observant little sister, Moria. Before James grew up to be a ruthless, remorseless villain, he was a curious boy from Boston, with a penchant for trouble and an acid tongue. Thrown into a boarding school against his wishes, James winds up rooming with a most unlikely companion: a lanky British know-it-all named Sherlock Holmes (“Lock” to his friends). An heirloom Bible, donated by the Moriarty family more than a hundred years ago, has gone missing, and it doesn’t take long for the two to find themselves embroiled in the school-wide scandal. The school is on lockdown until it’s found, strange clues keep finding their way to James, and a secret society lurks behind it all. It’s a brave new reimagining of the Sherlock Holmes series as only master of suspense Ridley Pearson could envision. As Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series says, “This tale will change the way you see Sherlock Holmes and leave you dying to know more.” White Bone. When Grace Chu vanishes in her attempt to investigate a switched vaccine in Kenya, John Knox encounters savage elephant poachers and their terrorist sponsors in his efforts to follow her trail. “[S]tirring… Amid all the turmoil, Pearson highlights the very real threat of extinction faced by Kenya’s magnificent wildlife.” —Publishers Weekly. “This crackling adventure doubles as a survival guide for your next trip to the striking, endangered landscape of East Africa.” —Kirkus Reviews. “Series fans will appreciate the deeper exploration of John’s and Grace’s characters as they reconcile their feelings for each other. Another perfectly calibrated installment in Pearson’s thriller world tour (with earlier stops in , Amsterdam, and Istanbul); puzzling clues and immersive, full-sensory descriptions of Kenya balance cutthroat international criminal networks and teeth-clenching firefights.” —Booklist. “Ridley Pearson’s Risk Agent series has re-energized the international thriller. Fast-paced, well-researched, with plots that might be tomorrow’s headlines, the Knox-Chu novels lead us through the shadowy underside of the world’s most intriguing cities.” — , #1 New York Times- bestselling author of Natchez Burning. Unforeseen-ebook. Fairlies Amanda and Jess have won the hearts of Kingdom Keepers fans. Over the years, they’ve protected and supported the five Disney guides with their paranormal abilities. Now for the first time, author Ridley Pearson focuses on the “fairly human” girls, taking us inside Jess’s mind as she and Amanda embark on a journey to unravel her latest prophetic dream. Jessica’s “gift” to dream of future events is both a blessing and a curse—the same visions that have saved countless lives are pure torment for her. Trapped in a body with a mind that has a mind of its own, Jess is condemned to see things she would often rather not. Picking up after Kingdom Keepers VI—Dark Passage and leading up to Book VII—The Insider , Unforeseen opens with Jess dreaming of “cracks” in Disneyland. There, she encounters an old man with secrets, a young Imagineer-in-training whose future Jess wants to see, and a treasured wonderland about to shatter. Never Land: Escape from the Carnivale. Little Scallop should be happy. She’s a princess of the Mollusk tribe, rulers of beautiful Mollusk Island. And she has two fun friends—Aqua and Surf—who just happen to be mermaids. But Little Scallop is bored. Her warrior brothers are allowed to do exciting things, like spying on the pirates who live on the other side of the island. Little Scallop longs to have a real adventure. So when Aqua and Surf invite her to go pearl-diving—even though she know she shouldn’t— she can’t resist. So late one night she sneaks off into forbidden waters with Aqua and Surf. That’s when the trouble starts—they run into a fierce storm, and a strange ship sailed by men who would love to capture a mermaid. Soon Shining Pearl is caught up in the adventure she always wanted. The question is: can she and her friends get out of it? Never Land: Cave of the Dark Wind. While Peter is away from the island, James and the other Lost Boys discover a mysterious cave. Shining Pearl and her sister Little Scallop warn the boys that the cave is a dangerous place, inhabited by a creature known as the Goat Taker — a beast so scary that even the Mollusk tribe fears it. But the boys can’t resist trying to discover the cave’s secrets. When the first of those secrets turns out to be a tantalizing hint of a famous haunted treasure, Captain Hook and his band of cutthroat pirates quickly join the hunt. Before long the children are fleeing for their lives in a dark and deadly underground labyrinth… and their only hope of escape is to solve the mystery of the Cave of the Dark Wind. Never Land: Blood Tide. When an earthquake strikes Never Land Island, things begin to go terribly wrong. A mysterious barrel washes ashore and falls into the hands of Captain Hook, who hatches an evil plan. The once-peaceful mermaids, who have always been friends to the natives, have turned violent. When the mermaids injure some members of the Mollusk tribe, the warriors have no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the boys and Shining Pearl and Little Scallop set off on a secret mission to try to make peace with the mermaids. Instead, they’re captured, and while in captivity they discover the cause of the problem—the Blood Tide is poisoning the lagoon and will eventually kill the mermaids. With time running out, the children must figure out a way to save the mermaids and to stop Captain Hook, whose plan threatens to destroy the Mollusk village and change life on Never Land Island forever. Science Fair. Grdankl the Strong, president of Kprshtskan, is plotting to take over the American government. His plan is to infiltrate the science fair at Hubble Middle School, located in a Maryland suburb just outside Washington. The rich kids at Hubble cheat by buying their projects every year, and Grdankl’s cronies should have no problem selling them his government-corrupting software. But this year, Toby Harbinger, a regular kid with Discount Warehouse shoes, is determined to win the $5,000 prize—even if he has to go up against terrorists to do it. With the help of his best friends, Tamara and Micah, Toby takes on Assistant Principal Paul Parmit, aka “The Armpit,” a laser-eyed stuffed owl, and two eBay buyers named Darth and the Wookiee who seem to think that the Harrison-Ford-signed BlasTech DL-44 blaster Toby sold them is a counterfeit. What transpires is a hilarious adventure filled with mystery, suspense, and levitating frogs.
