Audi Sport with Strong Teams at Spa
Audi MediaInfo Audi Sport with strong teams at Spa • Audi Sport Teams Attempto, Saintéloc and WRT field four R8 LMS cars • Twelve Audi drivers compete for overall victory in the R8 LMS • Customer teams plan to field further privately entered R8 LMS cars Neuburg a. d. Donau, June 29, 2021 – Audi Sport customer racing will contest the world’s biggest GT3 race at Spa from July 29 to August 1 with four powerful driver squads. In 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2017, Audi has already won the 24-hour race in the Ardennes with the R8 LMS. No other manufacturer combines so many victories at Spa in this ten-year period. Now the brand is aiming for its next success in the demanding competition of around 60 teams and nine brands. “The Spa 24 Hours is a dream for every sports car fan and has been offering excellent racing for years,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. “No other manufacturer has won at Spa as often as Audi in the last ten years. Last year, we were 4.6 seconds short of victory in the end, so the goal for this year is clear: to find at least that five seconds.” Audi Sport Team WRT, winner at its home round in 2011 and 2014, has entered two Audi R8 LMS cars for Audi Sport customer racing. Audi Sport Team Saintéloc from France, the 2017 winner, is preparing one GT3 sportscar. Audi Sport Team Attempto from Hanover, which missed last year’s victory by a tiny margin, is fielding another mid-engine sports car with the four rings. -

With premium quality in products and support Audi Sport’s customer racing department occupies an outstanding position in a tough competitive environment – in as many as four racing categories. In addition, Audi Sport customer racing in 2019 supports commitments in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the FIA GT World Cup, in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup and at stand-alone events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The four rings have been firmly established also in customer sport since 2009. Following Audi’s successes in rally racing, in touring car racing and in the sports prototype category, the brand started offering products specifically designed for customers a decade ago. During the first decade the company developed six different models. Everything began in GT3 racing with the Audi R8 LMS that was followed in 2015 by the second generation and is now starting to the 2019 season as an evolution. In 2011, the Audi TT RS that was particularly successful in endurance racing was the second model in the program. In 2015, the Audi TT cup car for one- make racing complemented the portfolio. For the 2017 season, a TCR race touring car – the Audi RS 3 LMS – was available for the first time. -

The squads of APR Motorsport, Phoenix Racing and Yaco Racing have been relying on the GT3 sports car made by Audi for many years. The Audi Sport customer racing teams are preparing for a tough battle.
