Cyient to Establish a State-Of-The-Art Technology Development Center In PRESS RELEASE Cyient to establish a state-of-the-art technology development center in Warangal Hyderabad, India, 18 February 2016 — Cyient announced today the establishment of a state- of-the-art Technology Development Center in Warangal, in the Madikonda Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC). The Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, will lay the foundation stone of the new facility on Friday, February 19, 2016. The Honorable Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Education—Kadiyam Srihari; the Honorable Minister of Information Technology, Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj —KT Rama Rao; and the Founder and Executive Chairman of Cyient—Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy will be present on the occasion. The Cyient Technology Development Center will focus on advanced geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and photogrammetry technologies, catering to a host of solutions for the transportation (navigation), utilities, and communications sectors. Additionally, the Center will have world-class spatial data analytics solutions to address the requirements of specialized geospatial data processing services, using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and other point cloud technologies. The facility will support Cyient’s worldwide digital technology initiatives, including those in IoT, big data analytics, and smart cities, and cater to the company’s global clients. Set in a sprawling five-acre campus, the planned Cyient Technology Development Center will cover an area of 70,000 square feet, supported by high-speed data networks for real-time online transactions. Initially, the facility will commence operations in April 2016, at the incubation center of TSIIC. Employing approximately 1000 professionals over the next 18-24 months, Cyient expects the initiative to contribute to the development of the region and bring technology industry to tier-2 cities like Warangal. The occasion will also witness the Cyient Foundation —the corporate social responsibility arm of Cyient—exchange a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Education Officer to adopt the Zillah Parishad Secondary School and the Mandal Parishad Primary School in Madikonda. The Foundation is committed to providing quality education to 500+ children. Cyient Foundation, in the last 5-7 years, has already adopted 14 government schools, supporting 10,000+ children currently. The Foundation has helped transform these schools to improve the attendance of female students, increase academic performance, advance health and hygiene, and elevate the overall development of children. As a part of Cyient’s vision to enable active participation of society in the union government’s “Digital India” program, the Cyient Foundation will set up a shared National Digital Literacy cyient.com Page 1 of 3 Cyient Press Release Mission (NDLM) Center and a digital library in the adopted schools. This will help the local community to get trained in L1 and L2 NDLM programs, which will enable them to participate in the “Digital India” initiatives actively, and in some instances, get gainful employment. Commenting on the initiative, Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy said, “ In establishing the Cyient Technology Development Center in Warangal, we recognize the role that tier-2 cities are playing in India’s growth. There is a strong need to promote balanced economic growth in rural India by creating employment opportunities in tier-2 locations. The Center in Warangal will help accelerate socio-economic development of the region. This will be the fourth technology development center in tier-2 cities, for Cyient. By adopting the local school and also setting up an NDLM Center, Cyient is fulfilling its goal of inclusive development.” In line with this philosophy, Cyient has successfully created three facilities in tier-2 cities in the past five years. Warangal, the host to Cyient’s latest initiative, is the fastest growing city in Telangana after Hyderabad and has the potential to become an important commercial hub. The city also has a resource pool of bright engineers graduating each year from leading educational institutions, such as the Kakatiya University, the National Institute of Technology, and several others. • Kunl Vivechana July-2015
Vice-Chancellor Speaks.... Greetings on the eve of Independence Day and University Formation Day Education is the process of facilitating learning, knowledge, skills, values and beliefs empowering people. It is a great leveller too. Universities are centres of excellence in teaching, research and innovation. It is an intellectual, broad-based organisaton, hence the ideals associated with it need to be original and inspirational. In our country we now have 722 universities as against the National Knowledge commission recommendation of 1500. The increasing number of private, deemed universities with their commercial intent poses a new challenge in the form of creating disparities and inequalities much against our goals of equity and participation. This challenge can be countered by establishing more centre and state public universities and increasing the rate of enrolment. Besides, quality in teaching and research in universities needs to be strengthened in order to promote quality education. Skill development needs to be given preference for better employability; and soft skills need to be imparted to the students so as to make them fully equipped to be able to meet up to the challenges in society. Similarly, collaboration with industry, MNCs and foreign universities needs to be encouraged on a huge scale. The joint efforts of centre and states will go a long way in realizing the goals during the 12th Plan. It is the commitment and realization of their huge responsibility by the teaching Faculty that will effectively thwart the above challenges and promote quality education in our universities. I hope the 39 year old Kakatiya University that had been at the originating point of many landmark events in Telangana history will take up the new challenges in earnest.
