At Hagwits School, Winnie the witch was teaching her young students a lesson in arithmagic. With a fl ourish of her wand, fi ve rows of four digits
appeared on the white board. The fi rst two rows added together gave the second, while the fourth subtracted from the third produced the fi h. Winnie then explained the rules. One digit is to be deleted from each row, closing the gaps le behind, so that there is a valid sum in the remaining three columns. Then a second digit is to be erased from each row, and fi nally a third digit, closing the gaps in each case, to leave a correct sum each time. At the end of the process there should be a single column of fi ve digits. Reading down the columns, what is the third set of fi ve deletions?
