The guest speaker for the Psi Chi/SEPA Invited Address was Professor (Stanford University) who discussed "Self-Enablement Through Perceived Efficacy." More than 500 people attended Professor Bandura=s presentation and by many accounts, his presentation was the highlight of the SEPA convention. After the presentation, Professor Bandura joined us at Psi Chi=s hospitality suite where he chatted with students and signed autographs for three hours.

SEPA 2001: A Success in Atlanta Maria Lavooy

For its first convention of the 21st century, SEPA returned to Atlanta in 2001 with a AReunited@ theme. Once again, SEPA met with great success! A number of honored psychologists delivered dynamic and interesting talks, including Albert Bandura, guest speaker for the Psi Chi/SEPA Invited Address, , who delivered the Rosecrans Invited Address, and Virginia Andreoli Mathie, the G. Stanley Hall lecturer.

Over 1600 authors, in diverse program areas, shared their research and thoughts through presentation of an eclectic assortment of posters, papers and symposia. In addition, there were numerous special topics awards, keynote speakers, and organizational/interest group presentations to keep attendees challenged throughout the day. As always, SEPA provided ample opportunity for reuniting with colleagues, making new acquaintances, and establishing contacts with some of the best in psychology that the southeast has to offer.

Thanks to all who, with great effort, ensure the success of SEPA, year after year. The tireless efforts of the executive committee and the hard work of college administrators, faculty and students, both undergraduate and graduate, guarantee the continued development of psychology in all areas. We look forward to seeing you in Orlando in 2002.
