CLOSE CALLS: The Orioles’ franchise-record streak of 13 consecutive wins in one-run games (dating back to June 22) was snapped September 1… According to Elias, it was the longest winning streak in one-run games since the 1984 won 19 straight one-run games…The O’s are 49-20 in games decided by one (27-7) or two (22-13) runs.

THE SAVE-IOR: Jim Johnson notched his 42nd save Saturday, the second-most in one season in O’s history (Randy Myers holds the record with 45 in 1997)…Johnson recorded his 30th save on July 22, becoming the second-fastest pitcher (95 games) to reach 30 saves in a season for the Birds…Lee Smith recorded his 30th in 1994 in the 87th game on July 14…Johnson is on pace for 48 saves…He became the first Oriole to be named MLB’s Delivery Man of the Month in May (award began in ‘05).
