He matched a San Jose Giants single-game record when he homered three Lancaster 68-70 .493 13.0 times on August 25 at Stockton. Hawkins hit 11 home runs during the month of August (28 games). Inland Empire 57-82 .410 24.5 His 21 home runs this season (in 88 games played) led the team and ranked tied for fourth in the California League. San Jose went 7-8 versus the Rawhide at Excite Ballpark and 4-9 at Recreation Park. In their most recent SOUTH DIVISION SERIES meeting (August 27-29), the Giants swept a three-game set from Visalia. BROADCAST Hector Borg At The Helm: Hector Borg was named manager of the San Jose Giants on July 17 replacing Bill Hayes, who resigned four days earlier.
