But more subtle differences have also snuck in, such as more-powerful syncing and tons of new support for emerging Web standards. Firefox has constantly been improved in speed and design, as well as with the addition of features like built-in PDF reading and outstanding support for new Web technologies. Firefox has integrated private browsing; you can easily enable and disable the private mode, browsing seamlessly in complete secrecy. Unlike with other browser privacy modes, there is no noticeable icon or change to the interface when it's in private mode. Mozilla Firefox protects against viruses, spyware, malware, phishing sites and pop-ups. The internet browser also has automatic updates, so your browser is always up to date on the latest security fixes. The internet browser also provides customized security settings. You can control the level of scrutiny placed on sites and customize settings for cookies, downloads, passwords and add-ons. Another impressive security feature the internet browser has is the one-click site info. You simply click on the site in the address bar to view important safety information. You can easily clear your personal information, including history, cookies, passwords and web-form entries, with the click of a button. You can even remove all traces of you visiting a specific site. Microsoft Edge: Microsoft Edge, initially developed under the codename Project Spartan, is a web browser in development by Microsoft. Officially unveiled on January 21, 2015, and first publicly released as a preview on March 30, 2015, it will replace Internet Explorer as the default browser on Windows 10 PCs, smartphones and tablets. Microsoft Edge is designed to be a lightweight web browser with a layout engine built around web standards, removing support for legacy technologies such as ActiveX in favor of extensions and integration with other Microsoft services, such as the digital assistant Cortana, OneDrive, and also includes annotation tools and a reading mode. Edge does not support legacy technologies such as ActiveX and Browser Helper Objects, and will instead use an extension system. Internet Explorer 11 will remain available alongside Edge on Windows 10 for compatibility purposes; it will remain nearly identical to the Windows 8.1 version and not use the Edge engine as was previously announced. Opera: Having started back in 1995, Opera stands as the second-oldest web browser currently in use. This software runs on a Google Chromium system. It is compatible across every platform and device. Opera is not the most popular desktop or mobile browser out there, but we were impressed with its features and security options, and found it to be one of the top internet browsers in its own right. Opera is the Top Ten Reviews Bronze Award winner for the best internet browsers. Opera has security features that check websites for malware and phishing schemes. The browser also uses advanced encryption when you visit a secure website and provides the option of erasing all private data, such as browsing history and cookies. This is convenient if you are browsing on a shared computer. Google Chrome: Since its 2008 release, Google Chrome has steadily gained popularity, to the point where it has acquired the largest share of global internet usage. This internet browser upholds Google's reputation of innovation and industry dominance. While this software borrows from other well-established services that came before it, it improves on their methods and is now the standard to which other web browsers aspire. Chrome is designed to keep you safer and more secure on the web with built-in malware and phishing protection, auto updates to make sure you have all the latest security fixes, and more. When you navigate to a website suspected of phishing or containing malware, the browser displays a warning. Safari: Known for its intuitive usability, Safari is Apple's lightweight and sleek internet browser. Safari trails behind the best internet browsers in terms of market share, simply because it was a Mac-only application until 2007. It's not just Safari's late debut to the entire computing world that keeps it from being a top contender in our lineup; the internet browser is fast and easy to use, but it lacks the customization features that so many users seek in a browser these days. Safari is a solid web browser & has the majority of the basic features any competitive browser should have. It's easy to use & extremely fast. You may find its lack of customization options a bit hindering, but if you're seeking a no-frills browser that allows you to browse the web securely, Safari is the way to go. .

The privacy mode has been introduced to combat the privacy issues related with browsers. This feature keeps the browsing activities of a user private by not storing or removing the traces of artifacts related to the browsing session on the system. In this study, we test the effectiveness of this claim and to ensure ways in which a forensic investigation may be done in such cases. The private modes of different browsers have been tested in Windows and MAC OS by performing pre-defined browsing activities in each of the browsers in both the operating systems. Moreover, the default locations of normal web browser artifacts are also examined to find whether artifacts of private browsing activities are stored in such locations or not. Keywords: - Private Browsing, Windows, MAC, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Brave Browser ------------------------------------------------------ ***-------------------------------------------------- I INTRODUCTON artifacts related to it on the end device.

Private Web Browser Forensics: A Case Study of the Epic Privacy Browser A Reed1, M Scanlon2, N-A Le-Khac2 1Ottawa Police Ottawa, Canada E-mail: [email protected] 2Forensics and Security Research Group School of Computer Science University College Dublin Dublin, Ireland E-mail: [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract: Organised crime, as well as individual criminals, is benefiting from the protection of private browsers provide to those who would carry out illegal activity, such as money laundering, drug trafficking, the online exchange of child-abuse material, etc. The protection afforded to users of the Epic Privacy Browser illustrates these benefits. This browser is currently in use in approximately 180 countries worldwide. This paper outlines the location and type of evidence available through live and post-mortem state analyses of the Epic Privacy Browser. This study identifies the manner in which the browser functions during use, where evidence can be recovered after use, as well as the tools and effective presentation of the recovered material. Keywords: Web Browser Forensics, Epic Privacy Browser, Live Data Forensics, Post-Mortem Web Browser Forensics, Browzar Introduction Internet security has been a major and increasing concern for many years, in part because it can be compromised not only through the threat of malware, fraud, system intrusion, or damage, but also through the tracking of Internet activity. In order to combat these threats, encryption of data as a default setting is now commonplace. Firewalls (that is, software that controls access to and from a network) and anti-virus programs are essential tools in the fight against computer crime.
