Brazilian Companies Bring Tropical Flavors and Healthy Products to the Sweets and Snacks Expo Brazilian companies bring tropical flavors and healthy products to the Sweets and Snacks Expo Traditional suppliers of confectionery and snacks to the USA, the industry has invested in innovation to satisfy the particular American palate Present in the US market for more than four decades, the Brazilian confectionery, snacks and biscuits industry arrives with a renewed range of products at the Sweets and Snacks Expo (SNS), in Chicago. The sector is already reaping good results from its significant investments in healthier products and typically Brazilian ingredients. This new range of products is being offered in addition to the traditional sweets and snacks portfolio that is already well established in the American market. Ten companies will participate at SNS, from 22 to 24 May, and will be located in the Brasil Pavilion, West Hall Stand 1861, organized by ABICAB (The Brazilian Cocoa, Chocolates, Peanuts, Candies and Byproducts Industry Association) in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). After great results in 2017 and at ISM, the largest confectionery and snacks fair in the world, held in January of this year, in Germany, the Brazilian industry aims to keep up the momentum. In Germany this year, companies closed more than double the sales compared to that of 2017. In 2017, Brazil’s confectionery exports to the US increased by 4% in value, countering recent trends in the market. “The Brazilian industry has been investing in automation and technology, as well as innovative sweets and snacks production, and this combination is contributing to the increase in exports to traditional markets, such as the United States and Europe, as well as opening new markets”, says Ubiracy Fonseca, President of ABICAB. BRAZILIAN FLAVORS Among the products launched with innovative ingredients, which bring the wealth of biodiversity from the Brazilian forests, are the traditional Freegells Hard Candy drops, by Riclan, in Açaí Berry & Banana flavour. Embaré is launching the Passion fruit mousse caramel and has confirmed that their portfolio at SNS will include Brazilian Delights, a line of caramels in Papaya, Soursop, Açaí Berry, Mango, Pitanga and Cupuaçu flavours. Tropical passion fruit has also been included in Brazilian chocolates. Garoto is launching the 90g Talento chocolate with creamy passion fruit filling. Peccin will present the Trento Passion fruit Mousse, a wafer filled with passion fruit mousse and covered in white chocolate (two wafers per 32g packet), as well as their line of Açaí berry candy. ‘Brigadeiro’ (a typically homemade sweet made with chocolate and condensed milk, unmissable at Brazilian parties), will also be at SNS. Santa Edwiges will present the Mini Chocolate Cake with chocolate chips, as well as the Chocolate Cake and Panettone with chocolate chips and brigadeiro filling. While Docile is bringing the typical “brigadeiro” in the form of gelatin candy. HEALTH IS WHAT MATTERS Following international trends, Brazilian companies have also invested in healthier products free from ingredients that cause intolerances. Riclan is launching Sugar Free hard candies in coffee, milk and fruit with vitamin C flavors. The other product to be launched by Riclan are the lactose free caramels in chocolate and milk flavours. Marilan will present the LEV line of biscuits and toast in various flavors, made with wholemeal cereals and in both individual packaging and packaging to share. Another new product from Marilan is Magic Toast, made with three cereals - rice, corn and wheat and with no added sugar or fats. TRADITIONAL FLAVORS RENEWED Docile – will launch the Licorice product line, available in both Tubes and Stripes, with 3 different flavours (strawberry, sour strawberry and sour Tutti Frutti). Docile is also the only Brazilian company to produce licorice products. Embare – will launch the Chocolate Mousse, Lemon Pie and Espresso Coffee caramels at SNS. Garoto – will launch the TALENTO Chocolate Bar with Strawberry creamy filling, 90g - a Milk chocolate bar with strawberry creamy filling; TALENTO Chocolate Bar with Cookies & Cream filling, 90g - a Milk chocolate bar with cookies & cream filling; BATON Milk chocolate bar with creamy milk filling, 96g - a Milk chocolate bar with creamy milk filling; BATON White chocolate bar with creamy milk filling 96g - a White chocolate bar with creamy milk filling.
