This is the twelfth year young people in our area have been provided the opportunity to participate in the Young Endeavour Scheme and Council is seeking support and financial assistance for this innovative youth program. Nominations are open now and close 26 June. Information is available on council’s website, www.upperhunter.local-e.nsw.gov.au. Nomination forms and information is available from Council offices. In the past week students have performed on stage, and visited a Buddhist temple. Star Struck Our Star Struck team have returned from a very exhausting and successful week in Newcastle. The team performed over three days at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre to packed houses. Many parents travelled down to Newcastle on Friday to attend the matinee, and I had the pleasure of attending the evening performance. The Star Struck program requires a huge commitment from staff, students and parents. Thank you to Mrs Russell for her organisation, and Mrs McConnell and Mrs Sormaz for their assistance with costumes. Miss Moore would particularly like to thank parents for their support, and the broader community who supported the fundraising events throughout the year. Birrong High School Mrs Meyer and Mr Davidson have led a group of students to the big city this week. As part of the ongoing exchange program with Birrong Boys High School students visit their city counterparts to Coming Events experience life in the big smoke, and attend a large urban high school with students from a vastly Week 8 different multicultural background. Topics covered were: - Management and Change - Employment Relations Senior Girls - Marketing Financial Billie-Jane Hoole 1st Wentworth - Management - Global Business. Courtney Gibbons 2nd Blaxland The speakers were able to integrate the topics and Hayley Fairfull 3rd Lawson explain how the current financial crisis was being addressed in each of these areas. 11 years boys * Business case study Lachlan Walmsley 1st Blaxland On Monday 15 June Year 11 & 12 Business Studies students visited the Merriwa Nursery to complete a Clinton Rawlinson 2nd Oxley case study of a small business. Jenny and Rob Alex Kirk 3rd Wentworth Lee very kindly discussed aspects of their business that covered the operations, employment relations and marketing.
