TIL Master2007 + COLOURS www.til.com @thisislondonmag THIS IS LONDON CULTURAL CALENDAR 2021 has a comprehensive selection of exhibitions, theatre, music, sport and events taking place over the next few months as restrictions are eased and we are able to enjoy the Capital again. The list will be updated as reopenings, rescheduled events and performance dates are announced. ROYAL OPERA HOUSE TO REOPEN ITS DOORS The Royal Opera House is to reopen its doors to audiences on 17 May, with a full schedule of in-person performances from both The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera, brand new work available to stream online, and the world’s first opera in hyper-reality. This suite of activity will take place on the Royal Opera House's historic Main Stage, in the state-of-the-art Linbury Theatre, or streamed online as part of their #OurHouseToYourHouse programme. VAN GOGH ALIVE BLOOMS IN LONDON The new Van Gogh Alive multi-sensory experience completely immerses you in the life and work of Vincent van Gogh as you travel through periods of his life that defined him as an artist. State-of-the-art immersive gallery technology immaculately displays Van Gogh’s work in a kaleidoscope of colour. Set to an evocative classical score that is delivered via a high-fidelity 3D sound system, this combination of sound, visuals and aromas of Provence will give visitors the sensation of walking right into his paintings as if they are living and breathing. ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS REVISED EXHIBITION PROGRAMME The Royal Academy intends to reopen on Tuesday 18 May 2021. Following the temporary closure, the exhibition programme for the remainder of the year has changed. Upon reopening, Tracey Emin/Edvard Munch: The Loneliness of the Soul will continue until 30 May. Michael Armitage: Paradise Edict will open on 22 May and David Hockney: The Arrival of Spring, Normandy, 2020 will open in the Main Galleries on 23 May. The Summer Exhibition 2021 has been rescheduled for autumn with a planned start in September. Late Constable will open in October. LONDON & REGIONAL 12 JUNE: HER MAJESTY THE 2 QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION EVENTS – Trooping the Colour will not go ahead this year in its traditional form in Central London. At the same time, other areas in the visual display are often 6 overlooked. Thus, a designer should carefully consider drawing viewers’ attention to important 7 information and reducing viewers’ attentional load on unimportant information. 8 Web designers recently tend to present all the information on a long page, and the 9 viewers need to scroll down to see different blocks of information. This new trend is probably 10 due to frequent mobile device use in our daily life, and we become more familiar with scrolling. 11 A critical piece of information on this type of webpage is to notify people to scroll down. 12 Otherwise, this design would be a complete failure. To successfully deliver this message, 13 designers can use preattentive features, such as motion, to draw people’s attention. For example, 14 on Google Drive’s webpage, the down arrow at the bottom of page informs people to scroll 15 down. Although the color makes the down arrow to stand out from the background, the 16 additional movement of the arrow is the key factor that draws people’s attention. Thus, dynamic 17 arrows can be useful to draw people’s attention to scroll down. 18 If a webpage is filled with dynamic objects, it will create competition between 19 information. To avoid this issue, other methods should be used to draw viewers’ attention.
