It didn’t take long to have each Director completely involved with the new format. I compliment each board member for assuming a heavy work load as well as for chairing various committees and work groups. We are volunteers but the need for time, commitment and dedication is paramount. An organization can only be successful with strong leadership. Tom Renney has brought new life to Hockey Canada. He leads by example. Tom has a strong work ethic combined with a positive approach. His people skills are definitely evident. I see a happy and proud staff working together. Tom’s team of Scott Smith, Paul Delparte and Mike Ross bring a pleasant working environment to Hockey Canada. This approach can only help make us bigger and a stronger hockey power and world leader. A renewed emphasis on development is well accepted and appreciated by our Members. We continue to work diligently with our Program of Excellence but not at the expense of our other programs. To be successful at the elite level we must be strong with development for all programs. We must have a solid foundation in order to be successful on the world stage. The rules, regulations and history of Hockey Canada are clearly outlined in this edition. Thank you for your respect in assisting us to promote a fair, safe, productive and fun filled environment as Hockey Canada develops athletes and citizens we can be proud of. I extend a personal thank you to the Board, the Branches, the staffs and the many volunteers for making Hockey Canada a sports leader in Canada and the world. We are so fortunate to have dedication, commitment and support from so many. This extends beyond the volunteers and I truly appreciate the amount of time families must sacrifice in order to make our game as great as it is. I send best wishes for the season and hope to see you in an arena. Joe Drago Chair of the Board Hockey Canada HockeyCanada.ca TABLE OF CONTENTS taBLe oF contents I.
