Prior to his graduate studies, Hunt received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Jacksonville State University. Hunt recently taught at Reinhardt University as the Adjunct Trumpet Instructor from 2015-2017. Hunt is currently entering the exam phase of his Doctorate of Music degree in trumpet performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Hunt has been the lead trumpet player for one of the top collegiate jazz bands in the country, the Brent Wallarab Jazz Ensemble. While at Indiana University, he has also performed with the IU Faculty Brass Quintet, Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, the Singing Hoosiers, and played principal in the University Orchestra. Professionally, Hunt has performed with jazz greats, Roger Ingram, Gregory Porter, Joe Lovano, Wycliffe Gordon, Carmen Bradford, Francine Reed, Matthew Morrison, Vince Mendoza, Carl Fischer, Dave Douglas, Steve Houghton, Duffy Jackson, Terrell Stafford, Paquito D’Rivera, Jerry Weldon, Eddie Daniels, and Vince Gardner, Alex Iles. Hunt is the band leader for the Drive-By Big Band and a founder/coordinator of The Beltline Brass Quintet. Hunt toured frequently with Blair Crimmins and the Hookers, a 1920’s Dixieland ragtime jazz group out of Atlanta and served as the Solo Eb Soprano cornet with The Georgia Brass Band from 2011 to 2016. Hunt has also been a guest principal trumpet for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on several occasions. Other performance groups include Salsa great; Orquestra MaCuba, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Joe Gransden Big Band, Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, Sean Imboden Large Ensemble, the Don Krekel Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, and the Macon Pops Orchestra. Hunt has been a clinician, guest artist, and given masterclasses for many music programs around the country and remains one of the top call lead/commercial players throughout the country. .
