Impressive victories against Werribee, Collingwood, Port Melbourne and fellow top side North Ballarat and a disappointing away loss to reigning premiers Geelong. New recruits Jason Cloke, Ben Jolley, Dean Galea and Callum Urch have all had an impact at senior level and 2006 Gerry Callahan Medallist Steven Greene has returned to the seniors in the last 2 games after his knee reconstruction. A pleasing feature has been the continued development and improvement of Liam Picken, David Stretton, James Beaumont, Patrick Rose and Scott Meyer at senior level. Captain Brett Johnson has been very consistent and his leadership has been outstanding. Youngsters Cameron Lockwood, Nathan Lyons, Adam Cook and Mitchell Keddell have all had an impact in the seniors thus far and Kane McKenzie has been a solid contributor. David Stretton Hawthorn recruit Matthew Little was in outstanding form during the practice games before dislocating his elbow and he has returned in the last two weeks at reserves level and kicked 13 goals. Little is in line for senior promotion for the Sandringham game this Sunday. Full credit must be given to Senior Coach Brad Gotch and his coaching staff for the manner in which the new alignment has begun. A strong bond is being established between the and Williamstown players. Experienced senior Bulldogs Peter Street and Wayde Skipper have been outstanding in their attitude and the example they have set at VFL level. Young draftees , Guy O’Keefe and Jarrad Grant have all had an impact in their first 5 games. Stephen Tiller has played consistently and earnt a recall to the Bulldog senior side last week whilst Farren Ray, Andrejs Everitt, Andrew McDougall, Brennan Stack and Tom Williams have returned from injury and have been valuable contributors to the Williamstown side. Brad Gotch and the Match Committee firmly believe that there is tremendous scope for improvement within the playing group and a key component is the weekly pressure being applied from players at reserves level with the excellent depth which we have between the Williamstown and Western Bulldogs lists. Reserves Wrap Williamstown reserves remain undefeated, winning its last 3 games. After a Bye in Round One. Coach Saade Ghazi has had plenty of players available and his toughest job has been trying to fit all players into the side and unfortunately up to 11 players weekly have been forced to return to their local interchange club. This week Williamstown confront a fellow undefeated side in Sandringham which will surely be our toughest test thus far. There has been a very even spread of contributors at Reserves level. Players squeezed out of the senior side in recent weeks—Nathan Lyons, Kane McKenzie, Cameron Lockwood, Mitchell Keddell and Adam Cook have been Anthony Chiu impressive. Tom Langlands has returned from injury and Murray Boyd, Matthew Cravino, Anthony Chiu, Conor Dullard, Michael Tanner, Matthew Grossman and Brant Dickson have been consistent players. Young Jets graduates Luke Cartelli and Nathan Black have also impressed at reserves level. Western Bulldogs , Sam Reid, Jarrad Boumann, James Mulligan and Paul O’Shea have all shown promise at reserves level as they continue their development.
