Lightning-Panthers: Rewinding Tampa Bay’S Third-Straight Win on the Road Lightning-Panthers: Rewinding Tampa Bay’s third-straight win on the road Louis Domingue set a franchise record with his 10th-straight win as a starting goaltender. He hasn’t lost a game since Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Nikita Kucherov (86) skates with the puck as Florida Panthers center Vincent Trocheck (21) pursues during the third period of an NHL hockey game, Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, in Sunrise, Fla. The Lightning won 5-2. (AP Photo/Lynne Sladky) By Mari Faiello Published 5 hours ago Updated 4 hours ago TAMPA – It had been 10 games since Nikita Kucherov scored a goal for Tampa Bay, and two games since he had even logged a point. But coach Jon Cooper wasn’t too concerned. “I don’t worry about Kuch,” Cooper said Saturday night. And no one had to worry about him any longer as he stole not one, but two goals off of the Lightning-Panthers matchup Sunday night. “We knew it was a matter of time,” Cooper said Sunday night, “but it was a big one for us.” Kucherov’s opening goal put the Lightning on the board early in the first period, notching his 23rd goal of the season. It only seemed appropriate for the All-Star to bookend the night with a 5-on-3 unassisted power play goal that sealed the 5-2 win in Sunrise, Florida. Here are some odds and ends from the win: An emotional night for Ryan Callahan. It was a heartwarming moment to see the pure elation and joy on Callahan’s face as the veteran logged his third goal in the last eight games he has played. Louis Domingue sets new franchise record. The backup goaltender has made a name for himself all season long, however, he made Lightning history Sunday night after he secured his 10th-straight win as a starting goalie. He has now set a new franchise record for the longest win streak. Point, point, point. With Brayden Point’s power play goal Sunday night, he’s now tied with Boston’s David Pastrnak for the most power play goals in the NHL so far this season with 15. Steven Stamkos finds the back of the net early. It was only the second shot of the period, but that didn’t stop Stamkos from logging his 29th goal of the season. Sprinting down the ice, Stamkos passed it off to Anton Stralman and made his way around Florida’s Aaron Ekblad before taking back the puck from Stralman and tipping it into the open net. The goal put Tampa Bay up 2- 0 halfway through the second period. Lightning sweep Panthers in series. Sunday’s 5-2 win secured a series sweep for the Lightning over the Panthers. On Nov. 21, the Lightning demolished the Panthers at home 7-3 and took home another win on Dec. 1 as the Lightning defeated the Panthers in overtime 5-4 on the road. Making history with 20+ wins at home and 20+ on the road. With Sunday’s win, the Lightning are now the third team in NHL history to split 40+ wins on the road and at home, all in its first 56 games of the season. Tampa Bay joins the Detroit Red Wings (who accomplished this in 2007-08) and the Washington Capitals (who logged this in 2015-16) in this record. Injury update. Ondrej Palat is day-to-day after he was scratched just before Sunday night’s game with an upper-body injury. Contact Mari Faiello at [email protected]. Follow @faiello_mari. • Injuries Continue to Plague Jets Seven Wounded Players Missed Saturday's Game
Winnipeg Free Press https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/injuries-continue-to-keep-jets-in-sick- bay-476497963.html?k=QAPMqC Injuries continue to plague Jets Seven wounded players missed Saturday's game By: Mike McIntyre WASHINGTON — Is there a doctor in the house? It’s been a common refrain for the Winnipeg Jets lately, as they just can’t seem to get close to a full, healthy lineup. Seven players were out due to injury in Saturday’s 2-1 loss in Philadelphia. Here’s what we know about all of them, with further updates expected today as the Jets return to action with a morning skate and then their game in Washington against the Capitals. Mark Scheifele has missed two games with a suspected shoulder injury, and there will be no rushing him back into action. He’s considered day-to-day at this point, and coach Paul Maurice had said last week he was a possibility to play either tonight, or tomorrow in Nashville. But don’t bet on it. Defenceman Toby Enstrom is battling a lower-body issue which kept him out for four games, saw him return in New Jersey last Thursday and then be back out on Saturday. Maurice said it’s a nagging thing that can change day-to-day, so his status is very much a question mark. Defenceman Dmitry Kulikov missed Saturday’s game after getting hurt Thursday in New Jersey. Maurice hasn’t said how long he could be out, only that it’s upper-body. Goalie Steve Mason has been sent back to Winnipeg for further testing on a lower-body injury he suffered late in the game against the New York Rangers last Tuesday, which was his first game back from his second concussion of the season.

From www.helplesotho.org "Help Lesotho’s programs foster hope and motivation in those who are most in need: orphans, vulnerable children, at-risk youth and grandmothers. Our work targets root causes and community priorities, including literacy, youth leadership training, school twinning, child sponsorship and gender programming. Help Lesotho is an effective, sustainable organization that is working at the grass-roots level to support the next generation of leaders in Lesotho." NHL MORNING SKATE: STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS EDITION – JUNE 22, 2021 THREE HARD LAPS * The Lightning matched a franchise playoff record with eight goals to claim an 8-0 victory on home ice and move within one win of their second straight appearance in the Stanley Cup Final. * Brayden Point became the second player in NHL history – and first in 45 years – to post an eight-game goal streak in one postseason, following Reggie Leach who had a 10-game run with the Flyers in 1976. * After three straight one-goal games, including back-to-back overtime contests, the Golden Knights and Canadiens will square off for a 3-2 series lead tonight in Las Vegas. LIGHTNING SCORE EARLY AND OFTEN TO MOVE WITHIN ONE WIN OF FINAL After missing most of his team’s Stanley Cup run in 2020, captain Steven Stamkos (2-1—3) scored two of Tampa Bay’s eight goals as the Lightning benefited from another high-scoring outing at home to push the Islanders to the brink of elimination and move within one victory of advancing to the Stanley Cup Final. * The Lightning, who matched a franchise record for goals in a playoff game, became the fifth team to win a contest in the Conference Finals/Semifinals by a margin of eight or more goals, joining the Canadiens (11: Game 5 of 1944 SF), Oilers (9: Game 1 of 1985 CF), Red Wings (8: Game 2 of 1947 SF) and Bruins (8: Game 2 of 1972 SF). * Tampa Bay is averaging 4.50 goals per game at AMALIE Arena these playoffs, the highest single-postseason total in franchise history and highest by any team at home (min.
