    About Emotions There are 8 primary emotions. You are born with these emotions wired into your brain. That wiring causes your body to react in certain ways and for you to have certain urges when the emotion arises. Here is a list of primary emotions: Eight Primary Emotions Anger: fury, outrage, wrath, irritability, hostility, resentment and violence. Sadness: grief, sorrow, gloom, melancholy, despair, loneliness, and depression. Fear: anxiety, apprehension, nervousness, dread, fright, and panic. Joy: enjoyment, happiness, relief, bliss, delight, pride, thrill, and ecstasy. Interest: acceptance, friendliness, trust, kindness, affection, love, and devotion. Surprise: shock, astonishment, amazement, astound, and wonder. Disgust: contempt, disdain, scorn, aversion, distaste, and revulsion. Shame: guilt, embarrassment, chagrin, remorse, regret, and contrition. All other emotions are made up by combining these basic 8 emotions. Sometimes we have secondary emotions, an emotional reaction to an emotion. We learn these. Some examples of these are: o Feeling shame when you get angry. o Feeling angry when you have a shame response (e.g., hurt feelings). o Feeling fear when you get angry (maybe you’ve been punished for anger). There are many more. These are NOT wired into our bodies and brains, but are learned from our families, our culture, and others. When you have a secondary emotion, the key is to figure out what the primary emotion, the feeling at the root of your reaction is, so that you can take an action that is most helpful. .

They consist of conscious mental reactions towards objects or situations and are associated with various physiological, behavioral, and cognitive changes. In this paper, we propose a comparative analysis between different machine learning and deep learning techniques, with and without feature selection, for binarily classifying the six basic emotions, namely anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, and surprise, into two symmetrical categorical classes (emotion and no emotion), using the physiological recordings and subjective ratings of valence, arousal, and dominance from the DEAP (Dataset for Emotion Analysis using EEG, Physiological and Video Signals) database. The results showed that the maximum classification accuracies for each emotion were: anger: 98.02%, joy:100%, surprise: 96%, disgust: 95%, fear: 90.75%, and sadness: 90.08%. In the case of four emotions (anger, disgust, fear, and sadness), the classification accuracies were higher without feature selection.

" Rainbow Flag First unveiled on 12/5/98 the bisexual pride flag was designed by Michael Page.     EMOTIONS The Self-Conscious Emotions Michael Lewis, PhD Institute for the Study of Child Development, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Child Health Institute, USA September 2011 Introduction 1 Until recently, the self-conscious emotions have been poorly studied. Little research on their meaning, how they develop, and how individual differences arises have been conducted, even though Charles Darwin 2 discussed them in some detail as far back as his book, The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals. Darwin’s observations were not followed up by neither psychoanalysis nor developmental psychopathology until about 40 years ago. In part, this was due to Freud’s focus on guilt and on the confusion between such self- conscious emotions as embarrassment, guilt and shame. In fact, Darwin’s observations and theorizing were not able to differentiate these different self-conscious emotions, in large part due to his measurement of the self- conscious emotions, where he used blushing behaviour. While blushing is a useful behaviour to measure, many people do not blush. Moreover, blushing is a measure of self reflection in the presence of other people, most noticeable embarrassment, but is not a measure of all the other self-conscious emotions such as shame, guilt or pride. While Darwin recognized the role of a person’s thoughts, especially around the emotion of embarrassment, he did not use cognitive capacities as a way to differentiate between them. Subject Michael Lewis, in his studies of the origins of the self-conscious emotions, makes the point that to understand the ontogenesis of these emotions in children, it is necessary to consider the cognitive development of the child 3,4 which likely give rise to them.

Betts All rights reserved SHAME AND SEXUALITY 3 Abstract Shame is a self-conscious emotion that can negatively affect mental health and lead to multiple diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-injury, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociative identity disorder (DID), narcissism, aggression, addiction, and suicide. The impact of shame on sexuality affects individuals’ lives through the influence of family, society, culture, and religion. Every person has a unique story, and the purpose of this literature review is to determine the impact of that story on mental health. Additionally, the purpose of this project is to increase awareness of the impact of shame on sexuality, so mental health professionals are better equipped to understand their clients’ needs. Individual Psychology concepts such as inferiority feelings, early recollections, horizontal and vertical striving, holism, and social interest are discussed. In addition, therapeutic interventions of two points on a line and increasing social interest and belonging can increase the awareness of shame and sexuality through an Adlerian lens. From an art therapy perspective, the expressive therapies continuum (ETC) is explained as the foundation in understanding how art therapy is beneficial when working with clients. Possible therapeutic interventions are proposed in theoretical scenarios with families, groups, and individual sessions when working with people who experience shame associated with sexuality.

    P a g e | 1 SEVEN Deadly Sins - #1 Pride How many of you have heard of the “Seven Deadly Sins”? Now here’s the interesting thing. There is no actual list in the Bible called “The Seven Deadly Sins” The list we know was developed by Pope Gregory 1, who was Pope from 590-604. He observed that there were seven sins that Christians seemed to struggle with the most, and that all other sins can be traced to these seven. Here’s Pope Gregory’ list of the seven deadly sins, a list that has basically been unchallenged for 1500 years: LUST: GLUTTONY: GREED: SLOTH (or LAZINESS): ANGER: ENVY: & PRIDE. OK. I want to switch gears for a moment. How many of you remember the T.V. comedy Gilligan’s Island? It aired from 1964-1967. Sherwood Swartz, who produced the show, once admitted that he modelled all the characters on the seven deadly sins. Guess which character represented PRIDE? That was the PROFESSOR who thought he knew everything. How about LUST? That was GINGER, the beautiful movie star. ENVY was represented by MARYANN, who was always jealous of GINGER’S looks and fame. The millionaire THURSTON HOWELL III, represented GREED. LUVVIE aka MRS HOWELL – represented GLUTTONY, because she always wanted more. The CAPTAIN stood for ANGER. Remember how he was always throwing stuff at Gilligan or hitting him with his hat? And SLOTH (OR LAZINESS), well that was GILLIGAN wasn’t it? He could never be found when there was work to be done.
