THE South West Mayo Devel- opment Company employs 191 staff through the Rural Social Scheme (RSS) right across south and west Mayo. All 191 are farmers who work part-time on local community projects. This allows them to continue to operate the family farm while supplementing their income. The RSS is managed by 10 super- visors and one co-ordinator.
