Stanton’s 19 multi-home run games rank tied for fifth with Carlos Gonzales since 2010 among active players; Jose Bautista leads with 27 such games in that span. Tonight was the 12th time in his career that Stanton had two hits in a game that either tied the score or gave Miami the lead, the first since June 23 of last season, when he had a game-tying solo home run and a go- ahead single vs. the Cubs. It was the fifth time that both of the hits were home runs (last, two go-ahead home runs on June 9, 2015 at Toronto). This is the ninth time the Marlins have had any player hit multiple home runs in back-to-back games; the first time since Stanton did it last year on July 5 and 6 at Citi Field. JT Riddle recorded his first major league hit with an infield single in the second inning. Tonight’s game was delayed for 27 minutes in the top of the fourth inning due to a partial power outage. Braves Notes: Ender Inciarte homered in the third inning and eighth inning, marking his second career multi-home run game (other, 9/27/15 at SD). Freddie Freeman clubbed his third home run of the season, a solo shot off of Koehler. He extended his hitting streak against the Marlins to 13 games, batting .426 (20x47) with four home runs and 12 RBI over that span. Tyler Flowers drove in the game-winning run with an RBI-single in the ninth inning, his first game- winning RBI of the season. He recorded two such RBI last season. Atlanta challenged a call in the bottom of the first inning that Dee Gordon was safe at first base on a ground ball; the call was overturned (0:45). Atlanta also challenged a call in the top of the eighth inning that Dansby Swanson was caught stealing at second base; the call stood. Duvall became the first player to record two three-homer games while wearing a Braves uniform, and his efforts helped Atlanta set a National League record for runs in a game in the modern era (since 1900). “That was pretty amazing to be a part of,” Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman said. “I’ve never seen an offense click like that.” The Braves fell just one run short of tying the modern record for runs scored in a game, set when the Rangers defeated the Orioles, 30-3, in the first game of a doubleheader on Aug. 22, 2007, at Camden Yards. Red Sox fans have known that for several years. But Bradley certainly did deserve one and it finally came his away on Sunday night. Bradley, right fielder Mookie Betts, and second baseman Ian Kinsler were Gold Glove winners. The Red Sox and Atlanta Braves each had three. A finalist in 2014 and ’16, Bradley was selected ahead of Mike Trout (Angels) and Adam Engel (White Sox) in voting done by managers and coaches. Bradley was second among MLB center fielders with an 8.7 ultimate zone rating and tied for the American League lead with eight assists. There’s no statistic for improbable acrobatic catches but Bradley had a series of those. Betts won for the third consecutive year, the first Red Sox player to do that since Dwight Evans won five in a row from 1981-85. Betts is now one of seven Red Sox players to win three or more Gold Gloves. Betts led all right fielders with 20 defensive runs saved. He has 83 DRS the last three seasons. Kinsler, 36, is now a two-time winner. He also won with the Tigers in 2016. In 128 games for the Angels and Red Sox, Kinsler had 10 DRS, the most in the AL at second base.
