The government of Uganda should .... ephance the parents or guardian to always take care of their children especially young girls because the results

X revealed that exposition of these adolescept an~ very impor.tant towards causing sexuality therefore enhancing to protect their children would minimize this problem.

The research recommends sex education to be put C>n school curriculum in order to be taught in school hence putting all these measures in place sexuality among adolescents can be reduced.

xi CHAPTER ONE BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY 1.0 INTRODUCTION Gary (2001), suggest that the survey of the Seventy's and eight's states that as information about human sexuality began to proliferate curiosity about sexual behavior of others began to increase.

, . The seventy's became the decade of sex survey and' books, magazines, radios, televisions and news papers provided details about sexual behavior in U.S which has become the most existing immoral behavior among adolescents to day all over the world.

A study on sexuality has been carried out in America and according to recent surveys, 'it is established that about hold of Americans high school students engage in sexual immorality. Today, there is a common perception that teenagers are more sexually active than their predecessors.

Sexuality among adolescents have been found that it occurs at different stages of human development which is later presented a society as a whole.

Geffery 2003, sexuality among adolescents has been caused by factors like peer pressure, lack of parental care, culture, too much time attached to leisure, drug abuse among others.

Haimouitz (1973)1 sexual relation before marriage are not quite sanctioned in our societies but since young people mature sexuality in their early teens, that is between 12-18 years, high sexual capacity and the great romances of literature has turned around the, love affairs of teen-9-ge, boys and girls.

1 1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM IN THE TITLE CASE Sexual acts tend to differ among adolescent and mariy factors are responsible for this. However, this causes of sexuality are yet to be established, it is not clear as to what cause sexuality among adolescents in Rubaga County, Kampala District-Uganda.

1.5 RESEARCH QUESTIONS 1. . What is the profile of the respondents as to age, sex and level of education in Rubaga division? 2. What are the causes of sexual acts among adolescents in Rubaga division? 3. What measure ought to be undertaken so as to address the problem of sexual immorality among adolescent in Rubaga division? 4. Which kind of sex has the higher rate of sexuality?

1.6 SCOPE OF THE STUDY The study will be conducted in Rubaga division of Kampala District Central Uganda.

2 Rubaga is located 2 miles along Masaka road and its boarders are Namungona in the north, Kawala, Nalukolongo in South, Najanakurhbi in the East. The major reason for selecting this area as a case study is that it is facing a serious problem of sexual acts among adolescents.

1. 7 SIGNIFICANCES OF THE STUDY This study enabled government to establish policy governing sexual behaviors The findings of the study also enabled an9 encouraged the community to be sensitized on the causes and impacts of sexual immorality and identify various solution for it.

AcadeI?icians and researchers can also use the study a,s a basis for further research.

The study will also enable teachers and administrators in schools to become sensitized of sexual immorality and reach to it.

1.8 ANTICIPATED CONSTRAINTS Financial problems, there will be lack of funds for buying stationary, pens and also transport.

Limited time, this will not allow the researcher get adequate inforID:ation.

Poor response to the question, some people may be reluctant to ret un answers to the questions. Thus it will make few question to be returned compared to what will be sent.

3 CHAPTER TWO ·REVIEW OF THE RELATED LITERATURE 2.0 INTRODUCTION The sexual revolution, according to Diane, Sally antj Ruth (1998) the early 1920, ;_,,,itnessed an ei:rolution in ·sexual attitude and' behavior. One change has been indulgence in premarital sex especially in a committed relation. Another is a decline in the double standard; the code gives males more freedom than females. Today's teenagers are more sexually active and more accepting of sexual activities. This.is true especially among girls.

' 1 In 1965, male student and female student called premarital sexual inter-course immoral. By 1985 only about sixteen percent (16%) of the boys and seventeen percent (17%) of the girls thought so.

Rates premarital activity have risen accordingly espedally for girls. In the mid 1950's one (1) out of four (4) girls had sexual experience by the age of 18. today more than one out or two girls and three out of four boys have had sexual inter-course by that age, fewer than one out of five young people refrain from inter-course teenagers.

Sexual activity range from casual kissing•to genital contadt today's teen engage in sexual activities to fulfill a number of needs, only one of which is physical pleasure. Teenagers may become sexually active for day of variety of reasons, to achieve closeness to seek new experience to prove their rp.aturity, to Keep up with peers, to find relief from pressures, or to investigate the mysteries of love.

2.1 THE SEXUAL ACTIVE DIFFERENCES AMONG ADOLESCENTS Growth spurt in both girls and boys differ According to Diane, Sally and Ruth (2001), in girls it begins between age 19½ or 13 years.

4 Since girls growth spurt usually occurs earlier than that of boys, girls between ages of 11 and 13 are taller, heavier and stronger than boys of the same age. This brings different in sexual active. At this stage, girls experience faster early sexual maturity and ability to reproduce which forces than to be attracted to the opposite sex.

2.2 WHY ADOLESCENTS BECOME SEXUALLY ACTIVE American adolescents are becoming sexually active ages than previous generation and many apparently active earlier that they say they should.

According to E. Maris (1986) during the (1980) teenagers gave a medium age of 18 as the "right age" ·to start having inter-course even though most of the 17 year olds and nearly half of the 16 year olds had already q.one so. Teenage girls ' , (and to a lesser extent boys/ often feel under pressure to engage in activities they do not feel ready for. Social pressure was the chief reason given by 73 percent of girls and 50 percent of the boys as to why they do not engage in sex until they are old Also curiosity was given as a .r;eason for ,early sexual intermarry.

Various factors in including timing of puberty, personality style, drug abuse, education, family structure, social economic status, age ethnicity and gender influence the likelihood of early sexual activity.

2.3 SEXUAL RISK TAKING Sally and Ruth (2001) although American teenagers are sexually more active today than at the time of the early years, they are not always informed about the health risk or more diligent use of contraceptives.

Saul (2001) two major concerns about teenage sexual activity are the risks of contracting sexuality transmitted diseases (STDS) and' pregnancy. However, the use of which gives some protection against pregnancy.

5 Unfortunately, nearly four out of 10 teenagers act their sex education from the media which present a distorted view of sexual activity, relating it with fun, excitement, competiti9n, danger or violence and rarely showing the risks of un protected sexual relations. In Uganda, the problem of sexuality is widely spread almost in all districts. This will most be effectively seen in district of Kampala. Basing on the above connotation, it is established that sexuality refers to the feeling and activities connected with a person's sexual desire.

2.4 CONCLUSION In conclusion therefore, the related literature, about sexuality in adolescences today depends on many factors as researchers urge that, they are many factors which can stop sexual immorality among adolescents today in Rubaga division Kampala District is not only sensitizing the adolescents about the dangers associated with sexuality before marriages. There is need also to check on other conditions which can led to stop sexual immorality among adolescents today as such as strengthening the parental dangers associated with such acts to mention but a few.
