Box 33-487 Barrington Christchurch 8024 Pioneer Basketball Club The Pioneer Basketball Club was established in 2000 to provide basketball playing and development opportunities for local children. Most of our programmes are based at the Pioneer Sport and Recreation Centre in Spreydon and we have an office at Christchurch South Intermediate School. We employ a full time Development Officer, Tyla Hunt, and a part-time Administrator, Bronwyn Manderson. Our committee meets monthly and consists of 11 volunteer members. Through the success of our programmes we have grown steadily each year and we now boast a membership of over 1500. Most of our members live in the South Christchurch area, but we do have some members from other parts of Christchurch. We are seeking sponsorship for our various programmes to enable our club to continue to provide quality programmes for our growing membership. Sponsorship Options #1 Miniball Competition Our Miniball competition is run on Wed afternoon/evening during school terms 1 & 4 at Pioneer Sport and Recreation Centre, and it caters for children in year 4 and below i.e. 9 years and younger. During term 1 2014, 36 teams were drawn from local schools, including Hoon Hay, Our lady of Assumption, Prebbleton, St Marks, Somerfield, West Spreydon, Hillview Christian, St Martins, Halswell, Te Whanau Tahi, Sacred Heart. Approx 300 participants This programme has experienced huge growth since its introduction in 2013. Each week we see a stadium packed with excited children and supportive parents- a very positive environment. Miniball Sponsorship package - $1000 • Naming rights for competition • Sponsor name on all draws, score sheets and results charts • Sponsor banners/ signs (provided by sponsor) to be placed around gym during competition • Sponsor recognition on web site and club newsletters- distribution 1500+ members #2 Primary Schools Competition This is our largest junior programme. It attracts over 100 teams and runs over 3 afternoons/early evenings through terms 2 & 3 at Pioneer. It caters for children from year 5 to 8 (9 to 13 years). Contributing schools: Halswell, Beckenham, Cashmere, Cathedral Grammar, Medbury, Selwyn House, St Margarets, Thorrington, Somerfield, Heathcote Valley, Prebbleton, St Marks, ChCh South Intermediate, Diamond Harbour, St Martins, Te Whanau Tahi, Our Lady of Assumption, Oaklands, Sacred Heart, Waltham. Approx 900 participants. This programme has grown steadily over a number of years. It is by far the largest junior competition in Canterbury and we are very proud of the positive working relationship that we have with all participating schools. Primary Schools Comp Sponsorship package - $2000 • Naming rights for competition • Sponsor name on all draws, score sheets and results charts • Sponsor banners/ signs (provided by sponsor) to be placed around gym during competition • Sponsor recognition on web site and club newsletters- distribution 1500+ members #3 Referees Our club has a proud history of referee development. We recruit volunteer referees from local high schools and they receive ‘on the job’ training from our referee trainer Carol Bathurst. Our referees work throughout all of our competitions- Miniball, Primary Comp and Summer Swish League. We currently have about 30 junior referees. Referee package - $1500 • Naming rights for referee training programme • Sponsor recognition on web site and club newsletters- distribution 1500+ members. • Sponsor branding on 30 new referee shirts #4 Primary Club Teams and Allstars Each year our club fields six to seven Club Teams in our miniball and primary schools competitions. The teams are made up from children whose schools don’t participate, and without access to these teams the kids would miss out. We provide playing singlet, coach and team photo at end of season. They play 12 games (Prim Comp) or two blocks of 6 games (Miniball). Pioneer Allstar teams are selected from participants throughout our Primary Club Competitions. Each year we select up to 5 teams for the South Island tournament in Rangiora during April, and 4 teams for the CBA Winter tournament. Special conditions apply #5 Holiday Clinic and Skills Days The club runs Holiday Clinics at each term break. They are generally run as two x 3-hour clinics for each age group (5 to 9 years & 10 to 14 years). Clinics attract approximately 80 children each term. These are very popular and cover fundamental skills, with a focus on fun and friendship. Attendees receive a clinic souvenir. Sunday Skills sessions are offered throughout the year. They are aimed at attracting beginner players and feedback is always very positive from families. We ask for a gold coin donation to cover coach expenses. Approx 6 sessions per year. Holiday Clinics and Skills Days Package - $1000 • Naming rights for both programmes • Sponsor recognition on web site and club newsletters- distribution 1500+ members. • Sponsor banners/ signs (provided by sponsor) to be placed around gym during sessions • Opportunity for branding of clinic souvenirs #6 Senior Club Teams Our senior club teams play in the Canterbury Basketball Association club competitions, which run from April through to the end of September. In 2014 we will field 10 teams from Under 15 boys and girls up to Men’s and Women’s Premiership teams. We are excited to have secured two top Head Coaches for our men and women- Dave Langrell and Phil Burns. Senior Club Teams package - $3000 • Naming rights for all senior teams playing in the CBA leagues. This means Christchurch wide exposure for sponsor- draws, score sheets, results in Press and on CBA website • Sponsor recognition on club web site and club newsletters- distribution 1500+ members. • Branding of uniforms at sponsors cost.
