But if one had to cram it all in, the one word would be "tops". Their game record was certainly one of the best in the history of Texas Mines, an eight- wen, one-tied, and one-lost record that will be hard to beat for the future Mines teams. The Miners came in second in the Border Conference, very near the top, and played in the Sun Bowl for ·the first time since 1937. Besides all this, the team as a whole topped the nation's grid elevens in rushing and scoring, and Mines full- back Fred Wendt set new national records in rushing, and scoring-all quite an accomplishment for a "minor" Standings Standings Game Record Border Conference All Games Mines Opponent w L T W L T 33 McMurry 14 Texas Tech 5 o o Texas Mines 8 1 1 35 Houston 7 Texas Mines 4 1 1 Texas Tech 7 3 o 21 West Texas 7 Arizona 3 2 o Hardin-Simmons 4 2 3 34 Brigham Young 20 Tempe 3 2 o Arizona 6 4 o 27 New Mexico 13 Hardin-Simmons 3 2 1 West Texas 6 5 o 27 Hardin-Simmons 27 West Texas 2 3 o Tempe 5 5 o 6 Texas Tech 46 Arizona 14 Flagstaff 1 2 o Flagstaff 4 5 o 25 New Mexico 1 6 o N.

It's just always kind of our Norense Odiase belief of basketball, and it was kind of reinforced by Coach Knight in those years under him. Jarrett Culver Just getting to know Coach Izzo, but the last couple Texas Tech Red Raiders days have been pretty cool. Last night he was talking about his relationship with Coach Heathcote and the THE MODERATOR: We're ready to go with head defense and things like that. coach of Texas Tech, Chris Beard. Want to give us thoughts as you head into the semifinal. Yeah, people ask me all the time is it challenging? Not really. Good players want to be coached, and good CHRIS BEARD: I told the guys, if it doesn't feel a little players want that trust factor, and I think, once you different today than it did yesterday leading up to explain to the guys, this is why we do the things we do tomorrow, then we're not ready, and everybody assured and this is what defense can lead to, once they kind of me that it did. visualize and they understand how important it is, it becomes everybody's identity. • Predicting Intrinsic Value of NCAA Division I Men's Basketball
Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics, 2015, 8, 74-91 74 © 2014 College Sport Research Institute Predicting Intrinsic Value of NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaching Salaries __________________________________________________________ Ryan M. Brewer, Ph.D. Indiana University - Purdue University Columbus Chad D. McEvoy, Ed.D. Syracuse University Nels Popp, Ph.D. University of North Carolina Chapel Hill _________________________________________________________ Men’s head basketball coaches at NCAA Division I programs commonly earn hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars each year, and are commonly paid three or four times as much as their university presidents, yet these wages are currently not rigorously analyzed prior to making hiring choices. Regression modeling reveals that basketball program revenue predicts the vast majority of compensation levels, apart from lifetime successes in NCAA tournaments, each coach’s ratings percentage index (RPI), and lifetime winning percentage. Athletics directors therefore need a tool whereby intrinsic value of their head coaches can be assessed. This study remedies an identified gap in the literature by extending estimates of intrinsic valuation to coaches’ contracts, increasing labor market efficiency. Predicted salaries of contemporary coaches are compared to actual salaries, noting differences. Predicting Men’s Basketball Coaching Salaries 75 A USA Today (Berkowitz, Upton, & Durkin, 2012) database showed the average head coach of a team participating in that year’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament was paid more than $1.4 million annually.
