It was largely the work of St. Jerome, whose Feast Day is September 30th. He was commissioned by Pope Damasus I in 382 A.D. to make a revision of the old Latin translations. By the 13th century, this revision had come be called the versio vulgate, that is, the “commonly used translation.” The Catholic Church affirmed the Vulgate as its official Latin Bible at the Council of Trent (1545–1563). It remains the definitive and officially promulgated Latin version. It is so good to be Catholic! St. Jerome, pray for us. The Rosary is prayed before Holy Mass M-F @ 7:35 a.m. SERVANTS SCHEDULE MASS INTENTIONS Knights of the Altar: Please volunteer to serve 26th Week in Ordinary Time whenever you are at Holy Mass.
