Sri V.K. Dhage and Smt. T. Dhage Founders of RK Homes The Hyderabad Children's Aid Society is a Charitable Voluntary Organization established in 1950 (Regd No.18 of 1950). The Society runs four homes for the purpose of good administration.

The Radha Kishan Home for children under 9 years, the Radha Kishan Home for Small Boys under the age of 12 years and the Balika Bhavan for girls in the age group of 10 to 18 years are all situated at Nanalnagar. The Vejbai Bal Nivas for older boys is at Shivarampally. The children residing in the four homes are between the age of 5 to 18 years. All the children go to school or college. At Nanalnagar we have the V.K. Dhage Special Coaching Center i.e. from Nursery to Class X. The students appear privately for the board exam.

Our academic performance is good and the Board exam results are encouraging. Children are encouraged to take part in sports, Art and Crafts and all extra curricular activities. Some children go to private schools outside the premises. At present we have 253 children in the four homes.

193 at Nanalnagar and 60 are in Shivrampally.

Every year one health camp, one Eye Camp and one dental camp are conducted.

We have an Hon. Doctor, a Moral Science Teacher and a Yoga Teacher who visit the Homes every week. The main aim of the Society is to give a happy childhood and value based education to poor destitute and orphan children.

The children are sheltered in airy spacious buildings with a big playground served Nutritious food and given decent clothing free of cost.

All festivals are celebrated in traditional style.

All this is possible with the help of donors, sponsors and well-wishers at home and abroad who contribute generously in cash and kind.

Without this help we would not be able to carry on the noble work of the founder couple Shri Venkat Krishnaji Dhage and Smt. Tehminabai Dhage who dedicated their whole life for the betterment of the underprivileged children of the Society.

Hyderabad Children's Aid Society has a rich history to be proud of; The Radha Kishan Home was inaugurated by Dr. Sarvepally Radha Krishnan the Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Rajendra Pershad the 1st President of Independent , Shri Lal Bahadur Sastry, Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao Ex-Prime Ministers have all visited the homes and blessed the children.

Dr. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy former was the President of Hyderabad Children's Aid Society from 1962-1967.

All these great personalities have inspired us to keep the Lamp burning.

J.V.Narasinga Rao - Former Deputy Chief Minister of A.P. 1967 to 1974 5. Sri. J.Chokka Rao 1974 to 1999 6. Dr. Mrs. Nandini Gandhi 1999 to 2003 7. Mr. Dhirajlal Kapadia 2003 to 2013

In the past 63 years the Society has given to the State/Nation thousands of educated responsible citizens.

The Society is registered with ministry of Home affairs Government of India for receiving foreign donations. The Registration No. is- 010230215. The accounts are annually audited and foreign contribution account is also annually submitted to the foreign ministry New Delhi.

We need more donors and sponsors to help us in a big way.

Our Children:- In the year 2012-2013 the Society has sheltered 253 under privileged children 193 at the Radha Kishan Homes and 60 at Vejbai Bal Nivas. The Society caters to free food, clothing and value based education. The aim is to give these children a happy childhood. The Boys and girls sheltered by the Society are between the age of 5 to 18 years.

Four Homes run by the Society:- 1. Radha Kishan Home, (H.No.9-4-78 & &79, Nanalnagar, Hyderabad-500 008) for children between the ages 5-9 years shelters 27 children. 2. Radha Kishan Home for Small Boys, (H.No.9-4-78 & 79, Nanalnagar, Hyderabad-500 008) between the ages of 5-12 shelters 35 boys. 3. Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan, (H.No.9-4-78 & 79, Nanalnagar, Hyderabad-500 008) for girls between the ages of 10-18 years shelters 131 girls. 4. Vejbai Bal Nivas, (Opp Z.P. High School, Shivarampally, Near National Police Academy, Hyderabad-500 052) for boys at Shivarampally shelters 60 boys between the age of 12- 18 years.

On 30th March, 2013 a guest lecture on career guidance and Counseling was given by Mrs. S. Geeta of St. Francis College.

8 THE HYDERABAD CHILDREN'S AID SOCIETY Extra Curricular Activities

2nd August, 2012 Lions Club of Hyderabad East celebrated Rakhee festival with the children. This has been an annual event since past many years.

On 15th August, 2012 40 girls were invited by Indian School of Business. It was a memorable experience. We are thankful to them.

Independence Day was celebrated.

5th September, 2012 Teachers Day was celebrated the children entertained their teachers with a Captivating Ganesh Dance.

On 10th October, 2012 10 children and 5 teachers visited Microsoft, Gachibowli.

On 10th November T V 5 shooted a documentary on Radha Kishan Homes.

On 17th November Magic Show was organized by our well wisher. Children enjoyed the memorable evening.

November, 2012 3 Senior boys V. Mallesh, P. Vishal and T. Raju of Vejbai Balnivas have Participated in the volleyball district Level Tournament at Vikarabad.

On 18th December, children of Nursery, L.K.G., U.K.G and class 1st of V.K.Dhage Speical Coaching Center went for a Picnic to the Zoo.

31st December, 2012 children visited City Center, , Hyderabad.

On 8th January, 60 older children with teachers of V.K.Dhage Special Coaching Center visited Rashtrapati Nilayam at Secunderabad.

14th January, 2013 Sankranti was celebrated at Radha Kishan Home & Vejbai Bal Nivas. Vejbai Bal Nivas Boys went to a Kite flying Mela at Gymkhana grounds.

A Painting Competition was conducted entitled “Nature's Beauty”. The paintings were judged by the Prominent artist Mr.B.A. Reddy. The Painting of K. Nikesh Intermediate 1st year won the 1st prize and M. Santhosh of class 10th won the 2nd Prize. Both paintings now adored the multipurpose hall of Vejbai Bal Nivas.

16th January, 2013 Vejbai Bal Nivas children went for a Picnic to Dholari Dhani.

18th January to 22nd January Winston Paul of Vejbai Bal Nivas went for an excursion to Bangalore and Mysore from his school Mahesh Vidhya Bhavan. His trip was an enjoyable experience.

26th January, 2013 Republic Day was celebrated. Dr. Usha Mohan of Usha Mohan Hospitals was the Chief Guest.

The Annual Sports Day was celebrated at Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan on 4th February, 2013 at 4 P.M. The Chief Guest was Shri V. V. S. Laxman India's pride Cricketer who was given a Guard of Honour by the boys of Vejbai Bal Nivas . The children put up a stunning performance. The Karate item stole the show. The Chief Guest's speech was inspiring and motivating. The children felt proud and happy to be in his company.

12th February, 2013 our children sang Bhajans and participated in the programme at Bapu Ghat organized by Mr. Surender Lunia of Sarvodaya Trust to remember the day on which Mahatma Gandhiji's ashes were immersed.

Dr.Mrs. Vijayanti Koratkar visits the Homes every week and takes care of children's health.

On 11th November, 2012 a Health Camp was conducted by a team of doctors at Vejbai Balnivas. The Health Camp was organized by Dr. Vijayanti Koratkar Indian Medical Association and Lions Club of Hyderabad Tarang. We are thankful to the doctors for sparing their valuable time.

On 2nd December, 2012 Lions Club of Hyderabad East conducted a Mega Health Camp Shri Dhirajlal Kapadia, Sri Devichand Gala, Smt. Pushpa Boob along with Dr. Vijayanti Koratkar organized the camp with the support of 1) Aadhar Foundation 2) Usha Mohan Hospital 3) Swaroop Eye Clinic 4) Panineeya Institute of Dental Sciences Hospital and Reaserch Center and 5) Smile Kraft Dental Clinic. The Management is thankful to all the doctors and the organizers for sparing their valuable time.

The Hyderabad Children's Aid Society is having Income Tax Exemption under section 80 G of IT Act 1961. Under this the donors will get a rebate of 50% of the amount donated to Hyderabad Children's Aid Society. PAN NO.A A A A H O 284Q

In June, 2013 29 new children have been admitted 16 boys 13 girls.

11 boys have been transferred from Radha Kishan Home for Small Boys to Vejbai Bal Nivas at Shivrampally.

In 2012-2013 for various reasons 26 children have gone home out of them 8 have finished schooling and Junior College. Some small children were not willing to stay away from their mother.

Widow mother of the child or a guardian is allowed to meet the child on the 1st Sunday of every month. The child is allowed to go home during the month of May if the guardian can afford to do so.

June 15th 2012 Managing Committee Meeting was held at Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan.

9th September, 2012 General Body Meeting was conducted at Vejbai Bal Nivas.

13th October, 2012 Homeo Clinic was inaugurated by Mrs. Laxmi Prasanna at Vejbai Bal Nivas Shivrampally.

27th November, 2012 Managing Committee Meeting was held at Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan.

28th January, 2013 Miss Mary our member, well-wisher and donor passed away at Boston. She will always be remembered by the children whom she loved dearly.

1st April was the Sadest Day of the year when our President of Hyderabad Children's Aid Society Shri Dhirajlal Kapadia passed away. This has been a great loss to the Society as Shri Dhirajlal Kapadia was a silient dedicated worker who was always encouraging and supportive. He was our pillar of strength. His memory will long be cherished.

On 5th April, 2013 the Members of Hyderabad Children's Aid Society organised a condolence meeting and a resolution was passed.

On 12TH May, 2013 our inmate Rajeshwari who has been sheltered educated as a Blood Bank Technician after passing out as a Medical Lab Technician was married at Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan to Mr. Bhagaiah also working in the same stream. The marriage was

largly attended by donors and well-wishers. The lunch for 500 people was donated by Balaji Ratanlal and the Kanyadan was gracefully done by Mr. &Mrs. Ganesh Agarwal.

Genpact has donated Rs. 8.5 Lakhs for Painting the school and the three Homes at Nanalnagar. This has given a fresh look to the buildings. We are deeply grateful to them.

22 THE HYDERABAD CHILDREN'S AID SOCIETY Shri Dhirajlal Tokarshi Kapadia

Shri Dhirajlal Kapadia was the President of Hyderabad Children's Aid Society from 2003 to the day he passed away at the age of 75 on 1st April, 2013. Shri Dhirajlal believed in simple living and high thinking. He never missed an opportunity to do good to others. As the President of Hyderabad Children's Aid Society he was extremely supportive and worked siliently towards the growth of the Society and the welfare of 250 under preveleged residential children. He monitored the system with grace and dignity.

In the passing away of Shri Dhirajlal Kapadia the Society has lost a very fearless and efficient leader.

Shri Dhirajlal Kapadia was the founder Trustee of Mahveer Hospital and Reaserch Center and the Chairman of T.L.Kapadia Eye Bank. He was SHRI DHIRAJLAL KAPADIA Chairman of T.L.Kapadia Shashtipurthi Trust President, HCAS 2003 - 2013 running orphanage Home Vejbai Bal Nivas at Shivarampally which is also a part of Hyderabad Children's Aid Society. He was the Deputy Dist. Governor of the International Association of Lions Club Dist-324 C-2 and founder Trustee of Lions International Heart and Eye Foundation Charitable Trust, Hyderabad.

Besides these Shri Dhirajlal Kapadia was associated with many other organizations and contributed largly for the welfare of mankind.

Not only has the Society lost a gem of a President but humanity at large has lost a noble human being.

Life is elevated when vigorous and honest work is associated with it.

A REPORT

Children are Special gift of God. V.K.Dhage Coaching Center provides a positive and loving atmosphere to the children.

We balance academics with extracurricular activities.

Every year is a new beginning.

In June, Vanita Media Ltd., made a documentary on V.K.Dhage Special Coaching Center.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) visited our center to create awareness about animals.

On 7th July, Vanamohatsav was celebrated by planting saplings around the boundary wall.

August was an eventful month. There were lot of competitions where children won prizes for recitation, spell bee, drawing and sports.

Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic songs and dances. The flag was hoisted by Dr.Pavan Baldwa (Dentist).

Children participated in a quiz competitions organized by G.E. Company.

The children from Hill side Academy and Kidzz School visited our organization.

We are greateful to GENPACT and GE employees for conducting English and Computer Science classes regularly.

We are thankful to ISB (Indian School of Business) for inviting our children to their campus for an interactive programme.

Round Table 189 screened the movie “Krishna” for our children.

Children participated in a Science fair conducated by G.E. “Machines which reduce human efforts and makes their life easy” Our school won 3rd Prize for designing a radio.

On 5th September, Teacher's Day was celebrated to pay tribute to Dr.Sarvepally Radha Krishnan. We are very proud of our dedicated teachers.

In October, Microsoft conducted a Fund Raiser. Children exhibited their handicrafts and raised Rs. 2,000/-.

On 14th November, children's Day was celebrated.

December was picnic time for children. They visited the Zoo and Rashtrapathi Nilayam.

Christmas was celebrated, carole were sung and Santa distributed goodies. Members of Star group conducted a Magic Show on this day.

On 26th January, Republic Day was celebrated with Chief Guest Dr. Usha Mohan. Special thanks to her as our children visit her hospital regularly for any illness.

In February, our children visited GENPACT company. They were given lot of gifts.

NASAR School visited us on 2nd February and interacted with our school children.

The biggest event this year was “The Sports Day”. The Chief Guest was Mr. V.V.S.Laxman Former Indian Cricketer. The children put up a spectacular drill and performed amazingly.

To pay a tribute to Gandhiji children visited Bapu Ghat on 12th February.

Meridian and Kalpa School visited us in March. All the tiny tots put up a beautiful show, showcasing their talents.

April was the month of examinations Every one put in their best. With the guidance of the dedicated teachers this year has been rewarding with 100% results in Xth Standard.

Lastly but in no ways the least I would like to make a special thanks to Mrs. Dinoo Khanna who encourages me to work towards this organization with all my dedication.
