2021-22 Student Handbook.Docx GRANDY PRIMARY SCHOOL Parent/Student Handbook 2021-2022 175 NC Highway 343 N Camden, NC 27921(252)331-4838 2 Grandy Primary School Telephone (252)331-4838 Grandy Primary School Fax- (252)338-5449 Camden County Website – www.ccsnc.org Grandy Primary Website- https://gps.ccsnc.org/ Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year! We are excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year. Grandy Primary School is known for its family friendly atmosphere as well as its high academic achievements. The staff works hard to provide each student with a safe learning environment where each student has an opportunity to grow socially and academically. GPS is the foundation for the future success for our students. Along with academic success, we want our students to learn how to be productive citizens and know how to build positive relationships with peers. We use the Bucket Filling System to promote positive behavior and good choices. We want our students and staff to be Bucket Fillers and not Bucket Dippers during the school year and in life. Our school has amazing parent and community support. The Camden community plays a key role in the overall success of our school. We encourage parents to be involved in their child's learning experience while attending GPS. The relationship between parents and teachers has a major impact on the school experience for our students. Along with the academic experience we encourage our parents to be involved with our active PTO. Our PTO organizes fundraisers, family nights, and works extremely hard to support our students and staff. This year many restrictions have been adjusted from last year's COVID 19 guidelines. The safety of our staff and students is our number one priority and we will continue to take safety measures to ensure everyone has a safe and clean environment to learn. Our school nurse will continue to use the NC Tool Kit as a reference to address safety concerns. This tool kit continues to change as different laws and regulations are passed. We will do our best to keep you updated and informed during the school year. GPS is ready to get back to what many are calling a “normal year”. Please work with us during the transitional period as we have our students come back full time. Besides organized events and approved volunteers, we will limit the access to the school building to essential personnel. This has proven to help increase the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to plan activities where our parents and students can be involved at GPS. The administrative team takes pride in being involved in the learning experience. We work hard to support students and staff as well and communicate with parents during the school year. We have created this handbook to highlight several of the school procedures and policies. You will find a variety of information in this book but our administrative team is always available to answer any questions you have during the school year. GRANDY PRIMARY MISSION At Grandy Primary our students will develop a love of learning, build a solid academic foundation, and prepare for their future. This year all first day paperwork can be found online at https://camdenncc.scriborder.com/ Please create an account, then select Grandy Primary, the school in which your child is enrolled. The Technology Usage Agreement, Student Handbook and Title I information, Health Insurance application forms, and other forms that will require your electronic signature. All information will be uploaded into PowerSchool and will automatically update any changes that you may make. It is imperative to answer all questions. You will be able to have all of your children under one account. The district is trying to eliminate repetitive paperwork and create convenience for families. We hope that by putting all first day paperwork online it will make the beginning of the year a smoother process. Your account will remain active as long as you have children enrolled with Camden County Schools. Please set up your account as soon as possible. You can do this from a laptop, iPad, your smart phone, etc. If you need assistance, please contact our school and we would be happy to answer your questions. Scribbles also provides technical support, and site navigation. ATTENDANCE Camden County’s attendance policy applies to all students enrolled in Kindergarten through grade 12. Whenever a student is absent, the absence is unlawful until an adequate excuse, signed by the parent/guardian, is presented. A note should be presented within two days after the student returns to school or the absence will be unlawful. Any student who is absent for more than 20 days shall not be promoted to the next grade. Special cases of prolonged illness, documented by a physician, will be taken into consideration by a committee (teachers, guidance counselor, administration, social worker, etc.). Accumulated Excused Absences 1. The teacher and/or guidance counselor will attempt to make contact with the parent/guardian regarding excessive excused absences. 2. The school social worker and resource officer will become involved if the teacher or guidance counselor is unable to make contact. 3. If a student's excessive excused absences begin to affect academic progress, the parent will be notified by the Social Worker that doctor’s notes will be required for all future absences. A conference will also be scheduled with the parent/guardian of the student, the Social Worker, classroom teacher, and administration to discuss the policy.

Before the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Washington, D.C. 20554 In the Matter of ) ) MB Docket No. 17-106 Elimination of Main Studio Rule ) ) To: The Commission COMMENTS OF MAX MEDIA LLC Max Media LLC,1 by counsel, hereby respectfully submits these Comments in response to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking issued on May 18, 2017, in the above-captioned proceeding.2 In the recent NPRM, the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC” or “Commission”) proposes eliminating 47 CFR §73.1125, the “rule that requires each AM, FM, and television broadcast station to maintain a main studio located in or near its community of license” (the “Main Studio Rule”), as well as eliminating the “staffing and program origination capability requirements” that are associated with the Main Studio Rule. The primary regulatory justifications for the Main Studio Rule have been eliminated. The program origination requirement was eliminated in 1987.3 Then the Commission’s public inspection file requirements were modernized and moved online.4 In January of this year, the 1 Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, Max Media LLC ("Max Media") manages and operates 29 commercial radio stations in Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Virginia. The majority of Max Media's radio stations serve small radio markets. 2 Elimination of Main Studio Rule, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, 32 FCC Rcd 4415, 4415 ¶ 1 & 4418 ¶ 6 (2017) (“NPRM”). 3 NPRM at 4419 ¶ 9. 4 NPRM at 4415 ¶ 1 & n.4. Commission repealed the local correspondence file rule.5 Additionally, technology has made the local studio unnecessary for listeners to access or communicate with their local stations.6 Max Media supports the proposal and thanks the Commission for the invitation to comment.7 Repeal of the Main Studio Rule would reduce unnecessary regulatory and economic burdens by providing increased flexibility as well as lowering administrative and compliance costs currently incurred by the stations Max Media manages and operates.
