The Jaguar team in Peterborough has recently been voted the best Jaguar dealership in the country; that’s according to their customers. This great news was given to Daniel Cooper, Brand Manager, at a meeting with Jaguar’s regional manager, Robert Herd. Being ranked so highly by their customers and in the Jaguar programme is recognition for the hard work that the team has put into the brand since they moved into their new showroom at the end of 2005, at which time they were somewhat further down the league.

On Saturday, 19th May 2007, nearly 1,000 people gathered in 17 Hangar at Cambridge Airport to mark the extra- ordinary life and achievements of Sir Arthur Marshall OBE DL, our late Honorary Life President, who died in March, at the age of 103.

The guest list included family, friends, former colleagues and representatives of many organisations with which Sir Arthur was involved during his life. His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan were both represented. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy delivered a powerful tribute to Sir Arthur’s achievements and his contribution to the Royal Air Force. Michael Marshall gave a moving address about his late father during a service which also included a reading by Robert Marshall and music composed by one of Sir Arthur’s brothers- in-law, Bernard Rose.

For the occasion, 17 Hangar was turned into a cathedral with two large screens relaying the service for those who were seated further back from the stage and altar. Two vintage aeroplanes and two vintage cars flanked the stage from which The Right Reverend Dr Anthony Russell, Bishop of Ely, in full regalia, lead the service of Thanksgiving. The music was provided by the choir of Jesus College, Cambridge, supported by the Brass Quintet of the RAF Central Band. A guard of honour was mounted by cadets from 104 Squadron Air Cadets, which was founded by Sir Arthur in 1939.

Following the Thanksgiving Service, the guests enjoyed a short buffet reception which finished with a fly-past of various aircraft with which Sir Arthur was associated. The display finished with a traditional ‘missing man’ manoeuvre by the Company’s flying school.
