Le Bureau Export vous invite à découvrir ces histoires singulières. le 7 février 2018, L’année 2017 de la musique a été intense, riche en surprises et en découvertes. Les artistes Made in France* et les professionnels qui les accompagnent ont su se distinguer, séduire et s’imposer à travers le monde. Le streaming continue de s’affirmer comme vecteur de croissance. En 2017, les prévisions indiquaient 50% des revenus en provenance du digital dans le monde (chiffres OVUM). Pour la filière française, les résultats sont là : des chiffres records de ventes et de streams, un nombre exponentiel de dates sur de nombreux territoires, une musique à l’image très présente. Le nombre de certifications export en 2017 atteint des sommets avec 66 certifications albums et singles, soit une progression de 74% par rapport à 2016; le nombre d’écoutes en ligne explose (176% d’augmentation du nombre de streams pour les singles certifiés par rapport à 2016); le nombre de concerts à l’export des producteurs de spectacles français dépasse les 3000 représentations. Récompenses mondiales, synchronisations pour des marques internationales, couverture médiatique remarquable, 2017 aura révélé à un public international des jeunes talents, et permis à des artistes confirmés d’asseoir leur rayonnement hors de nos frontières. On-Demand Audio streaming offset decreases in track and album sales and, on December 3, for the first time in history, it surpassed the 900 million per week mark. Ed Sheeran led all artists in Canada with overall consumption and had the top-selling album of the year. Abstract The music business is one of the industries most affected by digitalization of content and distribution channels. As industry revenue shifted from principally physical to digital channels in 2015, while being the business with the largest presence and most popular accounts in virtually all social media platforms - the current state of the music industry is change. This has led industry professionals into searching for new and innovating ways of reimagining the business model of music distribution. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate the potential of video live-streaming as an addition to the current social media channels used to market artists. This was done through looking into what industry professionals think of the subject in terms of strategic reasoning and potential, observing an interactive live-stream with a Swedish boy band, and a questionnaire directed towards end-users and listeners of Swedish popular artists to define what their stance is towards music-related social media in general, and live-streaming in particular.

Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.
