At Vanier All-Stars Bol d’Or Jérémi Roch QB 2008, 2009, 2010 2009 & 2010 2010 Shayne Stinson REC 2010 2010 Jesse St. James DL 2008, 2009, 2010 2010 Brandon Tennant DL 2008, 2009, 2010 2010 Jean-Samuel Blanc DL 2008, 2009, 2010 2009 & 2010 2010 Byron Archambault LB 2008, 2009, 2010 2009 & 2010 2010 Marvin Golding BL 2008, 2009, 2010 2010 PRESS RELEASE BELOW: CIS football: Rosters announced for 12th annual East West Bowl OTTAWA (CIS) – Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced Thursday the rosters for the 12th annual East West Bowl, presented by Under Armour. The all-star showcase is set for Saturday, May 10, 2014 at TD Stadium on the campus of Western University in London, Ont. Official website: http://english.cis-sic.ca/eastwestbowl/index Western will host the game for the sixth straight year. The contest was previously held at McMaster (2008), Laval (2007, 2006) and Wilfrid Laurier (2005, 2004, 2003). Kickoff for the 2014 edition is scheduled for 1 p.m. In addition to the game itself, the week-long event includes daily practices, the Under Armour Combine for participating players (May 6), the Free Agent Combine for players eligible to attend 2014 CFL training camps and not participating in the East West Bowl (May 7), a coaches clinic featuring presentations by CFL coaches and CIS mentors (May 9-10), the annual Friday night banquet (May 9), as well as the inaugural CIS 7-on-7 Passing Tournament (May 10). Two familiar faces - Laval’s Glen Constantin (East) and Calgary’s Blake Nill (West) - will serve as head coaches for the spring classic. The old foes, whose teams faced off in the Vanier Cup final last fall, rank 1-2 in East West Bowl appearances as bench boss with seven and five, respectively. “It will be very exciting to once again coach the best prospects from Eastern Canada. Now in its 12th year, the East West Bowl has become a can’t miss event for CFL scouts and it offers our student-athletes a unique opportunity to showcase their talent,” said Constantin, who last November guided his Rouge et Or to a remarkable seventh national title in only 13 seasons at the helm. “I want to thank Western University for taking the lead in organizing this week-long event.” “This year’s event will once again showcase the incredible talent in the CIS football ranks,” said Nill, a two-time Vanier Cup-winning head coach with Saint Mary’s who has led his Dinos to the Canada West title each of the past six campaigns, a conference record. “Each and every year we are pleasantly surprised by the quality of players who attend and how the event itself has evolved.” The East West Bowl showcases – for the most part - CIS players who will be eligible for the following year’s CFL draft. The East side is comprised of student-athletes representing schools from the AUS and RSEQ conferences, as well as Carleton, Ottawa, Queen’s and Toronto. The West contingent is made up of players from Canada West and the remaining OUA universities. No less than 13 standouts who will take the field on May 10 – six for the East and seven for the West - were named CIS all-Canadians last fall, including offensive linemen Karl Lavoie of Laval and Calgary teammates Sean McEwen and Sukh Chungh, receivers Nic Demski of Manitoba and Addison Richards of Regina, defensive linemen Jesse St. James of Acadia, Brendon Tennant of Laval and Daryl Waud of Western, defensive backs Kwame Adjei of Mount Allison, Kevin Bradfield of Toronto, Tevaughn Campbell of Regina and Mark Ingram of Saskatchewan, as well as linebacker Ron Omara of St. Francis Xavier. Quarterbacking the East team at TD Stadium will be the trio of McGill’s Dallon Kuprowski, Sherbrooke’s Jérémi Roch and Carleton’s Jesse Mills, while Guelph’s Jazz Lindsey and Manitoba’s Jordan Yantz will be under centre for the West. The West prevailed 18-17 a year ago to put an end to a three-game winning streak by the East all- stars. The West leads the all-time series 7-4. EAST WEST BOWL NOTES: A few players might be added to the rosters in the coming weeks... The coaching staffs will also be announced at a later date... Past East West Bowl participants include Hec Crighton Trophy winners Kyle Quinlan of McMaster, Billy Greene of UBC, Brad Sinopoli of Ottawa, Benoit Groulx of Laval, Daryl Stephenson of Windsor, Andy Fantuz of Western, Jesse Lumsden of McMaster and Tommy Denison of Queen’s... Other notables include 2014 Super Bowl champion Jon Ryan (Regina) of the Seattle Seahawks, fellow NFLers Cory Greenwood (Concordia) and Vaughn Martin (Western), both of the Detroit Lions, and Stefan Charles (Regina) of the Buffalo Bills, as well as former Calgary Dino Dan Federkeil, who earned a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Indianapolis Colts in 2007. • Preview for BMW IBSF World Cup La Plagne (FRA) 8 Jan
PRESS RELEASE – Preview for BMW IBSF World Cup La Plagne (FRA) 8 Jan. 2020 La Plagne stages mini comeback as host of the BMW IBSF World Cup French track to welcome old faces as favourites La Plagne (RWH): La Plagne will be staging a mini World Cup comeback in January 2020. The last time athletes from the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) competed on the track in the French Alps was 2015. Some old favourites set to return Some of the favourites for the 2019/2020 BMW IBSF World Cup enjoyed the same status back then. Any examples? At the 2015 race in La Plagne, the current leader of the World Cup, Francesco Friedrich (GER), celebrated the third of his now 23 World Cup victories in the 2- man bobsleigh and also finished third in the 4-man bobsleigh. World Champion Martins Dukurs (LAT) has not been beaten in La Plagne for almost 10 whole years: He won the last World Cup races there in 2011, 2012 and 2015. And the current leader in the 2-woman bobsleigh World Cup, Kaillie Humphries (USA), won two out of the last three World Cup races in La Plagne and finished third in 2015. This winter could also see the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Champion hit a new milestone in France: if Kaillie Humphries wins in La Plagne, it would be her 25th World Cup victory. Return of the 2-man bobsleigh and second half of the 4-man World Cup The race in the La Plagne sees the return of the 2-man bobsleigh teams to the BMW IBSF World Cup.

  • November 2019
The Gryphons’ Lair Issue 34 - November 2019 What Happened in October? Game 7 vs. Queen’s The Guelph Gryphons travelled to Kingston, Ontario to take on the Queen’s Gaels in a Thursday night, pre-Thanksgiving match-up. The entire game was very back and forth throughout, with the Gryphons tying up the game late in the fourth quarter, bringing us to overtime. With a defensive stop on Queen’s overtime drive, Guelph was able to respond and get the ball to the 26-yard line, setting up Kicker, Eric Stranz, to kick the winning field goal. Our Offensive Player of the Game was Running Back, Juwan Jeffrey. Our Defensive Player of the Game was Defensive End/Linebacker, AJ Allen. Lastly, our Special Teams Player of the Game was second-year Kicker, Eric Stranz, who has been 13-of-15 on field goals at this point in the season. To read more on our Players of the Game, please click here. To read more on this game, please click here. Thanksgiving Weekend After a Thursday night win in Kingston, the team had the Thanksgiving weekend off to spend time with family and friends. As many members of our team come from British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, the trek home was just not doable. That’s when Gryphon Football’s POP Group leader, Bruna Ferraro, stepped in to host the boys at a Thanksgiving dinner and made them feel at home during the long weekend. Thank you, Bruna and the Ferraro's for hosting our boys. Game 8 vs. U of T On Saturday, October 19th, the Guelph Gryphons took on the Toronto Varsity Blues in the last regular season game of the year.

  • Bobsleigh CANADA Skeleton
Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton (BCS) is the national governing body for the sports of bobsleigh and skeleton in Canada and we’re here to create, nurture and support World and Olympic champions, period! BCS will lead our entire Canadian community in the pursuit of becoming and sustaining the mantle of the leading bobsleigh and skeleton nation in the world. BCS directly will endeavor to do this by focusing on four critical areas: programs, process, people and planning. These four areas will provide the cornerstones to all strategic directions and initiatives. A hallmark of the BCS future is that it will be recognized as a performance-based culture, with a supporting performance management mindset. History of the Sport Montrealers may have pointed toboggans downhill on the famous Tuque Bleue slide in the 1870s, but it was the Swiss who later attached a steering mechanism to the toboggan and gave birth to the sport of Bobsleigh. In 1897 the world's first Bobsleigh club was founded in St. Moritz, Switzerland. By 1914 more than 100 natural-ice courses of varying degrees of sophistication could be found at winter resorts throughout alpine Europe. Frequently Asked Questions Bobsleigh teams consist of a brakeman and a pilot in the two-man/women event and a brakeman, two crewmen and a pilot in the four-man. Bobsleigh athletes will travel at speeds near 150 km per hour with 5 G’s of force on some of the corners. Skeleton athletes will travel at speeds near 130 km per hour head first! Canadian Team Performance Although Bobsleigh was one of the original sports at the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924, it wasn't until the late 1950's that Canadian bobsledders began competing internationally.
