Introduction /Agenda

The meeting of the HuMOCC took place at the Multinational Military Coordination Center (MNMCC) on Wednesday 13 May at 8.30am. The meeting agenda was the following:

Situation Update

. A new earthquake measuring 7.4 magnitude struck today (12 May) at 12:50 local time (UTC +5:45). The epicentre was southeast of (), 76 km northeast of – an area already affected by the 25 April quake.

. Additional aftershocks ranging from 5.0-7.3 magnitude have occurred afterwards within 35 km of Kodari and a 6.3 magnitude one with the epicentre in . . Landslides were reported in Langtang Region in the . Overall, the area affected by the earthquake is prone to landslides which may further blocking roads and making transport difficult.

Road updates (Logistics Cluster information) 1. BP Highway connecting Bardibas, Mahottari to Banepa, Kavre district – Kathmandu. Road fractured in the Sindhuli-Nepalthok section of the route (54 km). Also landslide debris has been reported in different places of this road section. 2. Gorkha: from 10 km, a place in Mirkot VDC-Chhepetar-Bhaluswanra-Warpak VDC section (36 km) is obstructed due to debris from a landslide caused by the earthquake. 3. Dolakha: Charikot to Singati Bajar, VDC is open. However, the road is obstructed from Singati Bajar to VDC. 4. Dolakha: Route connecting the Tamakoshi-Milti Khola road in has been reported closed due to landslide debris at Bhirkot VDC, Dolakha district 5. Dolakha: the main road via Khadichaur, Sindhupalchowk district, Mude VDC, Municipality, Dolakha district is closed because of landslide debris at Kharidhunga, Lakuridada, Dolakha district. 6. Lamjung: Besishahar-Chame Highway (61.1 km) connecting Besishahar Municipality, to Chame, headquarters of Manang district has been obstructed at Taghrin VDC, Lamjung district

MNMCC Updates CURRENT DEPLOYMENT As of 13 may, the Multinational Military Coordination

Center reported that 1,405 people were rescued by CHN Road Opening, Rasuwa air, of which 1,307 people were rescued by the Nepal Epidemic Con Team Army. Another 1,050 people were evacuated by road

Canadian Military Presentation The Canadian military have their support base at Sukute. They currently have light engineering equipment available. These assets can be used to facilitate road opening and site preparation for the installation of Mobile Storage Unit (MSU). At the moment they are constructing a small camp at SANKHU. The Canadian military is also providing airfield engineer support to WFP at the KTM international airport. The task is to conduct an assessment of what is needed to improve the new site for WFP helipad operations. The Canadian military have light medical capability to support medical requests coming from the local population. Support was also provided to CCCM for the assessment of potential IDP sites. The “radio-in-a-box” is a project that the Canadian military is implementing in closed coordination with the Communicating with Com munities (CwC) Group and the local radio Sindu. The project focuses on the delivery of radio and hand FM receiving devices that can be used to transmit agreed messages by CwC to local communities. As part of their exit strategy, the Canadian will be handing over their support base to an NGO.

Foreign Medical Teams (FMT) – Update . JICA (Japan Govt), Type 2, Bharabise, Sindulpolchawk: Team OK. Casualties starting to present form the local town (town badly damaged and multiple condemned building when we visited their location 2 days ago). Considering safety issues at current location and may withdraw or reposition to safer place in valley floor

. Norway Red Cross, Type 2, Chautara, Sindulpolchawk: with 60 beds and surgical trauma capacity, starting to see large numbers of injured (at least 40 so far), 4 confirmed dead in Chautara . MdM France, Type 1, Chautara Sindhulpolchawk (8pax) and Golche, Dolakha (6Pax) mobile teams, Team OK, small numbers of casualties. Possible damage to Chatuara road reported (landslide) . MdM Spain, Type 1, Ramechapp district hospital support: team OK, casualties starting to present. . Japan Red Cross, Type 1, Malemchi, Sindulpolchawk: All OK, minor injuries presenting . Czech team, North of Malemchi, Sindulpolchawk: In close contact with DHO and WHO focal point and currnet plan to demobilize 16th May be extended. . Thai Civilian team, Type 1, Sipaghat, Sindulpolchowk: 20 patients treated so far, but expect more to come form more remote areas. Team currently cheduled to stay till 20th May but rotation and extension now possible. . Pakistan Military team, Type 2, Bhaktipur,(site of wide spread collapse): Team OK, 24 casualties treated in first 3 hours. . UK-EMT Surgical: Several surgical specialist cells embedded in local hospitals, Dulikhel and East Kathmandu: Awaiting update . UK-EMT primary care (mobile type 1) Gatlang, Rasuwa: All OK, No injuries seen.

5. AOB The next HuMoCC meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday 15 May at 8.30am at the MNMCC.
