The cost is $2.00 per game and shoe rental is free. Every Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday : “Freight House Farmers Market” at 421 West River Drive, Davenport, Iowa. Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Saturdays from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm and Sundays from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Over 100 growers, bakers, crafters, and artisans will have their wares for sale. This is the largest Farmer's Market in the Quad Cities. During the spring, summer and fall the Freight House Farmer's market is held outdoors and indoors. During November through April the Farmer's Market in the Freight House is open indoors. You will find farm fresh fruits, vegetables, delicious baked goods, poultry, beef, lamb, pork, cheese, wine, eggs, honey, jams, jellies, dips and salsas, candy, fresh cut and dried flowers, seeds, bedding plants, annuals and perennials, house plants, amazing art pieces, homemade soaps, doggie treats, beautiful heritage quality crafts, and you could even enjoy a massage from a licensed massage therapist. The offerings change as the seasons do, so you are always sure to find a new treasure to enjoy! August 1: 2:00pm “Zen Coloring” Adults are invited to attend Zen Coloring, which will combine relaxing music with meditative coloring. August 2: 10am-2pm Free admission to the Mississippi Valley Fair for those with Special Needs. August 2-7: “Mississippi Valley Fair” on West Locust street in Davenport, Iowa. Fair Fun Cards are available at the cost of $55.00 and will gain you entrance to the fair and to all of the Grand Stand Acts. August 3: 5:30pm “Table Top Gaming For Adults” at the Eastern Avenue Branch Library. Tabletop games for grown-up gamers with a classic twist. Join the fun and meet some new people, play your favorite tabletop games and have the chance to learn a few new ones. Free activity. August 4: 11:00am “Bix Porch Party” at the Main Street Library in Davenport. Live music performed by Don Estes and the Prairie Ramblers, food, face painting, and balloon animals. Free event. August 4: 7:00pm-9:00pm “Sin City Orchestra On The Plaza” at the Bass Street Landing, 1601 River Drive, Moline, Illinois. Sin City plays a little bit of everything! Rock, Blues, Disco, Swing, Motown, and a chunk-o-funk! Get ready for a toe-tappin’ good time with this group! Food and beverages available for purchase on site. Please take a lawn chair. August 4-7: “Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival” at the River Center, 136 E. 3 rd Street, Davenport, Iowa. In the roaring 20s, Davenport, Iowa, produced a legendary Jazz cornetist, pianist, and composer whose worldwide fame continues to grow. Since 1972, the festival has been held annually to honor this musician. The festival, held at venues throughout the Davenport area, including LeClaire Park on the banks of the Mississippi River and the River Center is a 4-day event offering hours and hours of toe- tapping music and fun. August 6: 9:00am-3:00pm “QCBAC Heartland British Auto Fest” at 122 N. Cody Road, Visitor Center, LeClaire, Iowa. This car show displays some of the area’s best examples of British cars from makers such as Jaguar, MG, Mini, Triumph, ect. DJ Greg Zirbes will be providing British Invasion Rock and Roll music and announcing prizes. August 11-13: “Great River Tug Fest’ Friday night will feature one of the largest and most spectacular fireworks display over the Mississippi and two-state area. Tug Fest is a family weekend event filled with live entertainment, a huge parade, scenic 5K run/walk for adults and children, carnival rides and amusements, food, craft vendors, children’s tug – and the tug – Iowa against Illinois, all on the beautiful LeClaire riverfront. To top it all off, they are bringing in outstanding live bands Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Grand Parade is on Friday at 6:00pm. August 12 : 2:00pm “Recent Releases” at the Eastern Avenue Branch Library. Tired of the same movies being shown over and over on tv? Go to Recent Releases to see films that have recently come out on dvd. Free event. August 13: 9:00am-12:00pm “Living Lands And Waters Tree Nursery Beautification” at 6000 Eastern Avenue, Davenport, Iowa. Join the Living Lands & Waters crew as they work to beautify their tree nursery as part of their “Million Trees” Project! The main focus will be weeding! A great event for all ages and large groups! The “Million Trees” Project was initiated in 2007 to help further the mission to protect, preserve and restore the natural environment of our nation’s major rivers and their watersheds. The mission is to not only clean up the river ways, but to also enhance the watershed by planting native trees and removing invasive plants. In 2007 they started collecting and planting acorns with a goal of growing one million trees. After two to three growing seasons, the trees are harvested and replanted within towns and cities that have joined in our efforts. August 17 : 2:00pm “Afternoon Classic Films” at the Eastern Avenue Branch Library. Enjoy classic films as they return to the big screen. Sit back and relax while Henry Fond, Audrey Hepburn, Rock Hudson, Katherine Hepburn and some of your all-time favorites deliver the glitter and grit of yesteryears Hollywood. August 19, 20 : “Ya Maka My Weekend” in the District of Rock Island in Illinois. A celebration of Caribbean culture, the festival brings the Islands to the Quad Cities. Featuring nationally known, as well as regional, reggae and steel drum bands. Visit the open-air Market-place offering authentic island wares. Enjoy Caribbean foods, sand volleyball tournaments and a children’s craft area. The family area, featuring a pirate costume contest, limbo contests, and street performers, is another highlight of this summer festival. Event hours are Friday 5:00pm-12:30am, and Saturday 12 Noon-12:30am. August 20: 5:00pm-9:00pm “River Valley Classics Car Club Cruise Night” at North Park Mall. Enjoy the display of classic cars, fun, food, and 50s and 60s music. August 26: 6:00pm-9:00pm “Friday Night Jam” at 1220 Minnie Avenue, Davenport, Iowa. Go on out to the Roosevelt Community Center, 1220 Minnie Ave., Davenport, Iowa for the Friday Night Jam! On the fourth Friday of each month go for pizza, lemonade, board games, open gym, a movie, and Wii games and best of all, it is only $4.00 per person! August 28: 8:30am-3:00pm “Flea Market” at the Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds on West Locust Street in Davenport. Huge collection of antiques and collectables by various vendors located in the Expo building at the Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds. Quad City River Bandits Home Games: August 6 th : VS.
