Dear Colleagues, KVKs under this directorate are working hard to facilitate the farmers with bleeding- edge knowledge and cutting-edge agro-technologies, providing need-based yocational training to rural youth, farmers and farm women engaged in agriculture and allied activities in three states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. In fact, KVKs are guiding farmers in proper decision making and technological application through group approach in convergence with the available developmental agencies in systematic manner. The 68th UN General Assembly declared 20I5 as the International Year ofSoils (IYS) for raising awareness among the people on the importance ofsoil in sustaining life support system on earth. Keeping this in view ICAR ATARI, Jabalpur and KVKs celebrated World Soil Day on Sth December 2015 across the Zone. A total of 96 KVKS have organised programme 5 December 2015 at KVKs in collaboration with District administration and various line departments with involvement of Chief Ministers, Member of Parliaments, Ministers, MLAs qnd other people's representatives. A total 49300 soil samples were collected from 3022 vitlages following grid method of sample collection. 108320 Soil Health Cards were prepared and distributed by KVKs on 5 December 201 5 function containing information of Major and micro nutrients. Training cum workshop on PPVFRA was organised at KVK Koraput during this quarter. Jai Kisan Jai Wgyan week Weekfrom 23 December to 29 December 201 5 was celebrated by KVKs by organising programmes like Kisan Sanghoshti, Exhibition, F armer felicitation, exhibitions etc. Various programmes like National Initiative on Fodder Technology Demonstration, Technological Demonstrationfor Harnessing Pulse Productivity, Tribal Sub Plan, and National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture are running in selected KVKs of this directorate. TSP is operational in 22 KVKs located in tribal region of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Various climate resilient activities under the modules of Natural resources, Crop production, Livestock and Fisheries, Institutional Interventions, Capacity building and Extension activities are being carried out in I7 KVKs.
