To whom it may concern, We write in our capacity as County Borough Councillors for Ward, Council. Residents within our Ward have raised concerns about the poor condition of land in Network Rail ownership. There are many tracts of land throughout Abercynon Ward that are strewn with fly-tipping and litter. The visual and environmental impact of these pieces of land is profound. They have a detrimental impact on the health and well-being of local people who see the land on a daily basis. They also have a negative impact on the local business community and project an unsightly image of the to those who visit for leisure and recreation purposes. The condition of the natural environment is very important to residents in Abercynon Ward. We value the green spaces in our community. We have worked hard over recent years to improve the local environment by hosting ‘Community Clean-up Days’. These events bring together local residents, public service providers and third sector organisations who all share the same ambition; to improve the environment in our community. We have been generously supported by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council in this endeavor and the Council has made the cleaning up of land in Council ownership one of its top priorities. On behalf of the community, we kindly ask your organisation to fulfill its obligations to the public and our natural environment. Please find attached a list of sites in poor condition in Network Rail ownership throughout Abercynon Ward complete with location details for ease of reference. Yours Sincerely, Cllr Rhys Lewis Cllr Elaine George
