The owners of Sweet Paris Creperie & Café have said “oui” to expanding their business. Allison Young Chavez and her husband Ivan Chavez, co-founders of the creperie in Rice Village, are set to open a new shop at CityCentre Houston. The new Sweet Paris Creperie & Cafe, which should open for business at the end of summer, will join the posh lineup of retail and restaurants at CityCentre (it will be situated across from Capital Grille in the area known as Sorella Court). It’s been a busy couple of months for the couple. In December they opened a Sweet Paris shop in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico (Ivan Chavez works with a resort company in Mexico). Last week they signed the lease for the CityCentre store which will be larger than the original Rice Village restaurant which opened in May 2012. “We were on the forefront of the new wave of restaurants coming into Rice Village, which has always been made up of independent businesses. It’s been really welcoming and fun to be part of that wave,” Allison Young Chavez said Wednesday. “The Rice community and West U have been welcoming and supportive.” http://blog.chron.com/foodchronicles/2014/03/sweet-paris-creperie-to-open-in-/#21249101=0 1/6 3/6/2014 Sweet Paris creperie to open in CityCentre - Food Chronicles 2014 Grant Applications newusafunding.com New Funding Released All the Time. The 2,200-square-foot CityCentre store will have a 600-square-foot patio and will feature the same menu as Rice Village store but with the addition of waffles, more creative salads and sandwiches, and grab-and-go items such as pastries. That Sweet Paris expanded so soon after opening in Houston suggests that there’s a real hunger for sweet and savory crepes. It also says something about the couple, both Wharton Business School graduates. “My husband and I work well as a team,” Allison said. “I’m a risk-averse person and he’s the ultimate entrepreneur.” They plan other Sweet Paris stores, too. “Houston is so incredible right now. So many people are moving to the city,” she said. “I think Houston has room for a few more [Sweet Paris creperies].”
