The Charles County Chamber of Commerce, as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebration, is partnering with the Town of La Plata, the La Plata Business Association, and Civista Health Foundation in bringing a “Scarecrow Festival” to the Town of La Plata. Everyone is invited to participate in this community event. The Chamber encourages merchants, business people, individuals, church groups, school groups, clubs, organizations and families to participate in making a scarecrow. The scarecrows will be displayed throughout the Town of La Plata on designated posts. The event will take place October 28th – November 5th. There will be a contest with awards for different categories. We will be hosting a “Don’t Be Scared” Seminar on how to make a scarecrow on October 5th from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., at Wills Park Community Building, 505 St. Mary’s Avenue, La Plata.
