Velsink Abstract In 1899, nearby the modern village of Palaikastro in eastern Crete, two remarkable stone moulds were found by chance. These moulds, which were mainly intended for the manufacture of small cult objects, are considered by many as products of the Late Minoan III period (ca 1420/10-1075/50 BC).
