Finally, I am indebted to the Research Committee of the University of Macedonia to support the conference as well as the publication of this volume. - iii - BIOS (alphabetical order) • Maria Chalkou holds a Ph.D. in Film Theory and History (University of Glasgow), sponsored by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.), and an MA in Film and Art Theory (University of Kent). Currently she is a post-doctoral researcher at Panteion University (CIVIL – Censorship in Visual Arts and Film, supported by ELIDEK) while teaching Film History, Film Theory and Documentary Film at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of Ionian University. She is also the principal editor of Filmicon: Jour- nal of Greek Film Studies. Her research interests focus on film cultures of the 1960s, Greek Cinema, contemporary European cinema, film censor- ship and cinematic representations of the past • Konstantina Chatzivgeri holds a master’s student of History, Anthropol- ogy and Culture in Eastern and South – Eastern Europe. At the same time, she is working as a teacher for refugees. After graduating from School of humanities, she decided to focus on anthropological and cinematography field. She speaks fluently English, has a relatively good command in Span- ish and is interested in visual anthropology. Before moving to Greece for the bachelor degree, she had been living in Yerevan for two years. • Vaya Danielidou (PhDc. University of Macedonia) studied European Culture, Humanities in HOU and Film Direction (London, LFA). She also attended the LDVII program for Film and Television production in Leipzig and Berlin. She has written scripts and short stories and she has directed short films, winning awards and distinctions in Greece and abroad (Cannes, Mediterranean Biennale, Balkan Festival, New York Fes- tival, Paris Festival, etc.). She developed educational programs for screen- writing and cinema in London and in Thessaloniki.Vaya is the founder of team 24plus1 www.team24plus1.com and e-EDGE (on line seminars since 2011). • Mary Drossopulos holds a PhD Cross-cultural and Translation studies, MA Conference Interpreting, BA English Department) is a multilingual researcher, with a special focus on intercultural and human rights educa- tion, reconciliation in the Western Balkans, cultural mediation and con- flict transformation. She has been a member of the Trainers’ pool of the Council of Europe since 2012 and an external partner (facilitator, con- - v - sultant or rapporteur) for international organizations, such as the Youth Partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Eu- rope, SALTO South Eastern Europe, as well as local authorities, private companies and regional NGOs. Having lived and worked in various parts of the world, among which post-conflict or disadvantaged societies, she has conducted research for prominent publishers and international insti- tutions (Routledge, EU-CoE Youth Partnership, SALTO, Kosovo Foun- dation For Open Society, British Council etc), while her findings have been featured in international congresses, journals and reports. She has multifaceted experience in large projects in Europe, Asia and Africa sup- ported by international bodies such as the United Nations, the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the League of Arab States etc. She is also the President of the Eurobalkan Youth Forum and board member of Balkan-based non-profit organizations promoting youth participation, intercultural dialogue and active citizenship. • Katerina Grammatikopoulou was born in Katerini in 1986. She is a film- making graduate from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2019, she received the master’s degree Cultural Organ- izations Management from the Hellenic Open University. Her academ- ic interest focuses on New Greek Cinema and on practices for attracting international film production in Greece. Her professional experience in- cludes working in Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, in Stavros Niar- chos Foundation Cultural Center, in film production and adult education. Currently, she works at the Greek Film Center in the directorate of Devel- opment and Production. • Elina Kapetanaki Elina Kapetanaki is a Doctor of Anthropology (Panteion University) and Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Balkan, Slavic, and Oriental Studies, of the University of Macedonia. Her current research concerns creative feminities produced and performed via small clothing industries at the Historical Center of Thessaloniki, Greece. Her previous extended ethnographic fieldwork was contacted in Albania and was connected to practices and understandings of selfhood and mobility between Greece and Albania (2009–2013). • Lydia Papadimitriou is Reader (Associate Professor) in Film Studies at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. She has authored The Greek Film - vi - Musical (2006) and co-edited Greek Cinema: Texts, Forms and Identities (2011). Her numerous publications have appeared, among others, in Stud- ies of European Cinema, New Review of Film and Television Studies and Screen. She researches Greek and Balkan cinema, often with an emphasis on film and media industry concerns. She is the Principal Editor of the Journal of Greek Media and Culture (Intellect) and has co-edited (with Ana Grgić) a volume entitled Contemporary Balkan Cinema: Transnation- al Exchanges and Global Circuits (Edinburgh University Press, 2020). • Eleni Sideri Assistant professor in Social Anthropology at the department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies, University of Macedonia. She has worked on issues of diasporas and transnational diasporas in the context of the Black Sea and the Caucasus. She co-edited the volume on Religions and Migrations in the Black Sea Region.
