A PROUD & PROGRESSIVE 630.909.5303 • [email protected] VILLAGE FOR ALL PEOPLE

Dear Residents, “Guten Tag” and hello as we bring in the fall season and look forward to our many fall events including Oktoberfest, the Show & Shine Car Show, Harvest Fest and many others! With the end of the summer season, we are as busy as ever with events and programs for all generations. Between our very popular PATH Afterschool program and Preschool, to our Center for Senior Citizens celebrating 8 years in our community, we pride ourselves on being a “Proud and Progressive Village for All People”! Join us on Tuesday, September 11th as we remember those who lost their lives from those tragic events of 9/11. As we hold this solemn ceremony, I always look out at the many young faces, and I realize that by holding this ceremony, we will always keep those memories of our loved ones alive who tragically perished on that day. I hope you will join us and most importantly “never forget”. As the fall season moves along, we will be celebrating Oktoberfest from September 13th through 23rd at Camera Park with great food, music, classic German bier and most importantly great laughs and spending time with friends and family! Before heading over to Oktoberfest on Sunday, September 16th at Camera Park, we will also be revving our engines for the Glendale Heights Show & Shine Car Show and Community Garage Sale. Stroll through bargains at our Garage Sale and then check out some classic cars all on your way to Oktoberfest. To close out the month of September, join us at Heritage Park on Saturday, September 29th for a full day’s worth of events starting with the Glendale Heights Fishing Derby followed by Harvest Fest! In October, we will start out with the Family Health and Safety Fair where adults 18 and over can get their yearly flu shot while checking out an array of community vendors. The rest of October will be spent celebrating the spooky season with ghostly events including Hallow-Tween and Safety Town Halloween. Throughout my time serving the residents of Glendale Heights, one of the most important lessons I have learned is communication is key with the Glendale Heights community. From our monthly Coffees with the Mayor and Board to our Park Parties, I do my best to ensure our entire Village Board is available to listen to you. Social media has been a major asset to informing the community and our residents of any important news updates, major announcements, events and more. It has been a great way to communicate with our residents and for you to communicate with us. Social media is a powerful tool and I encourage you to reach out to us first before clicking that “post” button. At the Village, we want to be able to help you, and I encourage you to contact the appropriate department to try and resolve any and all of your concerns or let us know of any positive interactions you’ve had with our staff. If you are not sure which department to reach out to, please feel free to email our Public Relations Division at [email protected] and they will get you in touch with the appropriate staff members. I recently had the pleasure of meeting 20 new teachers from Queen Bee School District 16 who are eager to learn what the Glendale Heights community has to offer. It reminded me that these teachers chose Glendale Heights to work with our youth and our community. We are always here to serve you and make sure the community strives for a better tomorrow! Enjoy the fall season and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely, www.GlendaleHeightsOktoberfest.com
