Southern States Energy Board’s 2016 ENERGY Briefing to Southern Legislators 1 Welcome On behalf of the Southern States Energy Board, I am honored to welcome you to Lexington, Kentucky, as we host our 2016 Energy Briefing to Southern Legislators. We are pleased to convene this meeting in conjunction with the Southern Legislative Conference. State legislators face complex decisions that demand forward thinking and informed leadership. The Southern States Energy Board’s 2016 Energy Briefing to Southern Legislators provides a dynamic forum to address challenging issues related to energy and environmental legislation, current public policy debates, initiatives by executive branch administrators and regulators, as well as economic development challenges and success stories. This annual event is an opportunity for state legislators in the South to caucus on significant issues that are critical to the quality of life of people in the southern states. This year’s program will include highlights of energy and environmental state legislation.
