A document used in the urban planning process to outline the long-term goals and priorities for a neighbourhood; Gets us thinking about what we want to see improved as well as how the neighbourhood should look and feel in the future; A formal planning framework to help shape future decision making in this area; Help ensure that this regeneration is planned for holistically and that the money we have available is spent in the most effective way. camden.gov.uk Need for a Community Vision Gospel Oak and Haverstock area is expected to see a number of exciting changes in the next few years This will include: • brand new homes, • safer streets; • improvements to Queens Crescent and the market; and • investment in open spaces and community facilities Joint up strategy is required to ensure changes are reflective of local’s people’s needs Comprehensive Vision for new or enhanced infrastructure needed to support the community. camden.gov.uk Need for a Community Vision New homes already delivered / expected at: • Kiln Place • Barrington and Lamble • Bacton Low Rise • Maitland Park • West Kentish Town With potential for further new homes at Wendling & St Stephens Close (subject to ballot) In total over 800 existing homes could be replaced to modern standards As well as up to 1200 new homes camden.gov.uk Purpose of Community Vision camden.gov.uk 1. Not a formal decision making body, provides recommendations to the Council on various issues seen as important for the area Focus is on deliberation, listening to differing views and trying to reach agreement on what they think is best for the neighbourhood So far, 5 sessions have been held via Zoom. Next steps camden.gov.uk camden.gov.uk camden.gov.uk (As of 25.01.2020) camden.gov.uk Some early themes identified Prioritise actions which contribute to addressing Effective decisions should focus on investments these top four issues that: • Ensures that all regeneration brings about tangible benefits for the whole community; • Improving community safety still seen as a major priority; • Make community facilities more attractive to a greater range of ages and backgrounds to help build community spirit; • New homes should make the area more beautiful, but this must respect the existing context and area’s heritage; • There is a specific need to enhance the offer of youth facilities in the area; • Access to nature and enhancing the biodiversity of the area seen as a top priority. camden.gov.uk 1.
